how did you make your avatar the anime avatar other than the civ pics? i couldnt find a button for that.
And also im curious, is tomoyo your name or would it be one of the tomoyos from animes and mangas i can name a tomoyo from, and if so, which one?

I never experienced the points about defending cities, new era etc.
I guess it is just the score, that is why the palace is fully built even when you are just in the middle when on deity or such, but hard to complete on Chieftain. Or maybe I just can't shake off that Civ2 rule...
