Pancakes!!!!

If you mean syrup on savoury french toast - That is an abomination, sir!

;)

Grab a box of pancake mix. Just add water, oil, eggs, and whatever else the box suggest and go from there.

Thats cheating and once you add the wet ingredients its not hard to do whip up the dry ones.

I don't try to do home surgery, why should I bother with baking from scratch if there are awesome alternatives that are easier. ;)

Never heard of golden syrup, but wiki says
It can also be used as a substitute for corn syrup.
:yumyum: Sign me up! (though i still prefer real maple.)

I like my pancakes crispy, with a raised grid pattern on them, served with fried chicken.

Very important thread. Highly political and serious topic here. How do you make them and feel free to share a recipe.

Heres my basic mixtures. I had some today for lunch with maple syrup. If I'm feeling particuly fat I add some combination of ice cream, whipped creme and canned fruit like peaches. Its a smal mixture so you just double or triple the mixture etc depending on how many people you want to feed.

1 cup of flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 egg
1 tablespoon of melted butter/margarine
1 tablespoon suger
1 cup of milk (200ml)

mix and cook in a frying pan coated in a little butter.

Home cooked pancakes are awesome.

I recently put together a similar recipe using Hershey's Special Dark cocoa (it really tastes cocoa-y unlike their chocolate) with some Ghiradeli's semi-sweet chocolate chips. Awesome.

I use about 2x flour to 1x milk and about 1 egg and a little oil to taste. Some of the flour is Bisquick to provide the leavening. I prefer most of the fat pre-coating the iron skillet. A really good brand for pancake mixes is Bob's Red Mill, especially the gluten free.

Waffles are great, but they're not pancakes. If you use pancake batter for waffles you'll end up with a very poor result and vice-versa.

I eat Eggo pancakes. :smug: I actually don't think me and my family have ever made home-made pancakes or waffles or any baked goods for that matter. We always use store-bought mixes. I feel lame. :(

There is nothing whatsoever wrong with Eggo waffles and/or pancakes. Especially if it is a part of a STAR TREK BREAKFAST BONANZA!

I just use the instructions on the Bisquick box.
I believe I normally use Aunt Jemima's but otherwise, same here. No reason whatsoever, it just is.

For toppings, some butter (magerine usually as it is what I use and not rock hard) and, usually, cheap "maple"-flavoured syrup because I am cheap, but preferably real maple syrup. Nothing fancy needed at all. If I want fancy, I will go for waffles, with lots of fruit and whipped cream maybe some chocolate chips/syrup and cinnamon in addition to [maple syrup] and butter/margerine (but that is for at restaurants).

As for this "golden" syrup, why would you bother when you have either dirt cheap stuff or maple syrup?
Especially if, as wiki says, it is similar to corn syrup. While I love my corn syrup, it just isn't pancake material.
