First of all it wasn't yesterday, it happened in 1917.

Second of all, I don't see a reference to July 12th anywhere in that article.

The 90th anniversary of the battle was remembered last week in and around Ypres, in presence of the Btritish queen and Belgian Crown-prince. So there must be some relation with the date 12/7 ?

EDIT: the Belgian king was there as well... (on crotches after his hip surgery)

Aha!

The battle was initially scheduled to begin on July 12, although did not actually begin until 31 July.

I suppose someone got sick and they had to postpone.
