Passive agressive Vassal domination

oh I didn't realize my turn. Well, here's my set. I took the conservative approach and declared on Mehmed first - I was worried that Khan would keep Hatty's cities and free himself, which would be an utter nightmare...

Khan's razed a few of Mehmed and Louis' cities, and he's also willing to accept gifts again  I settled the city north of Persepolis (it sucks) to keep the borders of Persepolis manageable (and hopefully cause it to revolt - it's already shrinking in size). There are some settlers being sent to the frozen north, unless you guys want to let Khan settle it. I think we should settle it at this point as it counts as more land tiles for us than for Khan, and it'll ensure that he can't break free of his vassalage.

I have also not triggered the GA yet, as a GE was born and can almost finish the SOL (forgot to check but I think it'll need another few more turns before it can be rushed to completion). This pretty much sums it up:

sorry for the rather sloppy play, but as long as Khan doesn't free himself, I don't see how we can lose from here. Techwise, steampower has been completed. RR is up next (halfway there?). We will need more workers though, if we're going to build a transcontinental RR. Hatty has chosen to research scientific method instead of military tradition or replaceable parts (ever the builder ain't she?). We should probably have assembly line by the time we take her on (if we even have to).

I look on save and we just need to settle everything Khan freed, include Ice for speed.
We just need a bit of land to get Domination and Khan's stacks on the front line are huge. Just help him to drop city defences and enjoy the show.

How about finish the game, Tartran? I think it is doable in 15 turns. :)
Well, may be just not, but I do not think I will see the game again if Negyvenketto will have time to play this time.

Well, congrats.

Power of AI upgrades.
We had so many units to gift for him to upgrade because I was building cheapest one's.

Praets+Catapuls.

I look on save and Paris is due to fall and Khan units are all around the place.
I see Maxmed agree to capitulate because we kill a lot of his Navy. In combat log dead caravels and thin.

On a funny side he is one turn to riffles, not it that would have helped him.

:goodjob:

So have we figured out what the "surely you must be joking" line is for? Is it because we just didn't kill enough of their units since our vassal did all of the killing? Or is there some other reason? I remember somebody said that response is for when you request something that is absolutely ridiculous (like forcing a civ to declare on its vassal) but I don't get why Huayna (and now Louis) say we must be joking...

the cheap AI upgrade system is a little broken - I will have to remember to abuse vassals like this next time I play.

On additional note.
We did not really needed or used riffles.

We had been able to work over everyone a bit earlier just by drafting mass muskets nad gifting Praets to Khan.

You folk relictant to draft mass muskets, but speed is off essence.
Ok, AI did not get riffles untill we finished, but why risk delays?
Greens still resonably effitient agains riffles, but more efficient agains longbows.
