Patch 1.0.1.217 - Too many nukes !!!

Maybe it was already said.. but I don't know so I will say it now:

After last patch, the AI uses too many atomic bombs !!! I play on a huge map and it's full of fallout... lol ! At least we had the SDI before... I miss that ! We even had the option to ban nuclear weapons at U.N. but now we can't do anything against them.


Pls change this... add SDI maybe ... ? And make AI use less nukes and make the use of nukes have a big impact on diplomacy. I can conquer like the entire map easy because they nuked each other and destroyed lots of improvements and units.

The possibility to ban nukes with U.N. will be good too.


I added this first as a comment to other thread but someone said that I should make a new thread about it so maybe I'm more lucky in getting this done.

I really find this as a "MUST ADD" for the next patch because currently, the only option I have is to find a mod that completely removes nukes from the game, so I can have fun with invasions.

I completely agree with this essential option.

If Devs considered that Allow Policy & Promotion Savings was critical for gameplay then the trigger happy fest of Nuclear Armageddon is not only anti-strategic but it's also a bad excuse for some "Simulated" warfare that adds absolutely nothing in tactical terms.

Once we reach Modern Era, the ability to build any missile Nukes should be nerfed into an EXTREMELY costly production and within a depletion model of Uranium tiles.
The UN ban might be a little too late (Tech-Tree pathing) though since it comes down as a Diplo Win factor rather than such game-breaking attrition methods.

In fact, Domination (to me) is more than just enemies' Capitals quest as i suggested in the Multiplying CS Variety thread. A mod could always alter the ruleset - given. But if Vanilla doesn't acknowledge that any forms of total WAR should be somehow matched on equal & balanced principles with a winning condition focusing on PEACE (Science or Cultural, for example), then what players get is simply another hurdle to cross.

Thus, a clear & obvious option in settings that offers... Nuclear Warfare Limited.
 
I would agree that there should be some mechanic to limit the usage of nuclear weapons. What is the real life MAD deterrent doesn't and can't really correspond to the game. It's better that some actual restrictions be able to be placed on it. To be fair, my memories of Civ4 ICBMs were that the AI hardly ever used them, so I kinda prefer that they actually do make use of them; it makes sense from their point of view. But implementing some drawbacks to nukes or restricting them is needed to readjust that calculation.
