I hope for a "major update" it's more than UI improvements and AI tweaks, especially given there are already some great UI mods (maybe AI too, haven't tried those)
I wonder if the news about the "timing" of 1.1.0 might tell us about the arrival of Crossroads of the World, given that they're linked on the roadmap they released—supposing that the rough start didn't change their plans anyhow.

According to the Roadmap in the last Dev diary (https://civilization.2k.com/en-GB/civ-vii/game-guide/dev-diary/victories-post-launch/), the planned content for 1.1.0 includes a new Event (like the monthly challenge on Civ 6 last year) and a new Natural Wonder, and be around the same time as the release of the first part of the Crossroads of the World Collection.

God I hope this game gets out of the pre-alpha phase and gets the quality update that it deserves (although I highly doubt it). The game is fun, it's just not even close to being finished. They've played us for fools and got our money for further development.
Better, smrter Ai
Bigger maps and of course the Earth map
Hopefully, they include the regular way of playing with true civ to leaders consistency (or at least something like Franks - Normans - France, Roman - Holy Roman Empire - Italy)
Settling needs to be closer to home rather for Ai to spam cities across the map
And I miss being able to play small and get bigger (plying tall) without having to have 10+ cities if the limit allows.
This game is all about spamming cities and boosting happiness, instead of having a reward for someone optimizing cities without having to just constantly spam cities.
Bugs - every turn there is a new bug, every age there is something glitching, missing, not working .
Even things that are not bugs are confusing, sometimes the game just doesn't tell you that there is someone in the fog of war and you are clicking like something is not working.
Auto explore of course is missing, automatization of other things as well.
I'd love to see forces maybe auto march around the borders or something like that
Voice, acting, screens, titles are just missing from this game. The way they made them in the beta they kept it in this pre alpha period of the game
Right now after 3 patches we might be able to call it early access, but way too early access to be a full game. It might be a full game in a year, who knows, but it won't be any time soon
The game can implement a literal limit on how much you are allowed to expand and ""tall"" players will still complain that bigger empires have more resources.
You can't disable updates (although you can tell Steam when to download an update, it will demand that it be updated before you can play and I'm not sure if that can be bypassed) but if Firaxis leaves the console-compatible beta enabled (right click the game, Properties -> Betas -> Beta Participation) you'll be able to play that patch. Though 1.0.1.3 will require Firaxis to add it to the betas. I don't remember if they tend to leave older versions available, but I know Paradox does that very often for instance.
