Patch 3.13 is not installing

I just BTS, after having owned Civ 4 and Warlords for many years. I have disc versions of 4 and Warlords. BTS I just bought and digitally downloaded from Best Buy last night. BTS seems to load and play fine, just like the other two versions, but it's build is 3.17. I would like to update to 3.19 and then install Better AI.

So I downloaded a version of the patch from Atomic Gamer. Whenever I open the patch installer it gets to the page that has the "install" button. I push it, and the cursor just spins and spins. If I click on the screen, a system dialogue comes up that says "Setup.exe is not responding".

Does anybody have any solutions? I have now read several, several different posts, both from people with similar issues to me, and from people with several different suggestions, many of which I've tried (uninstalling and then re-installing; trying to first patch up to 3.17 (until I confirmed for myself that I, in fact, already have v3.17)) etc. Nothing is working.

Did you try downloading the patch again, perhaps from a different mirror? Your download or maybe even the Atomic Gamer source may have gotten corrupted.

Another possibility is that since your BTS is a digital download, you may need to download the patcher from the same source. Some of the digital downloads are structurally different or use different storage locations from the disc version. The disc version is what the patches from the patch download link are set up for.

yes, I have tried also to install the patch from gameshell. Same thing

I'm actually amazed that the digital download of BTS worked with the disc versions at all. It usually doesn't. You will need to get the digital from the same vendor you purchased the game from. Patches for disc versions or other digital distributions (they're not all set up the same) won't work. If using an OS above XP, make sure that you right click on the patch and use run as administrator to install it.
