Patch incoming

The new patch is a dream. I shat myself when waiting for the turn to end to find out it's already done. They should've used this new format in it's initial patch. I went through the first 120 turns (and 1 quick war) in 6 minutes. Now the AI doesn't dance around my cities and come right at me. This is easiest the best patch ever constructed.

Bugs experienced so far, all with a pre-patch saved game on G&K, with advanced setup options fairly customized:

  • Barbarian units that are fortified almost never attack; ranged units in particular never seem to attack. (Update: seems to be more about Barbarian ranged units than artillery, specifically.)
  • Circus available in a captured city, even though there are no horses or ivory (improved or otherwise) in its radius. There aren't even any in the 5-tile radius it would eventually encompass, given time. (Update: my mistake; the city was created on a horse tile.)
  • UI rendering crash. On reloading, had to go to a previous game, the last autosave gave no UI at all. (Update: hasn't happened in any newly started game.)
  • Ranged naval vessels sometimes move one tile towards the target on right-click instead of firing. (Update: may have had Reveal All turned on, which would explain it...note sure.)

I'm hoping that in spite of the bugs, most of which are not significant issues, I can finish the current game. I'll be sure to post back if they still occur even in a new game.

I may be a little late but have any mods been affected by the new patch? My game crashes when my mods are enabled.

Some mods will still works fine, some will need an update to work correctly, and all mods using a custom DLL will crash on activation until ported to the new source code.

The UI queuing was messed up by the patch, meaning that all AI was being processed in one block. This had the undesirable effect of making the diplomatic UI become unresponsive and crash, as well as various other small issues. It also only made existing saves go faster, new saves would work normally.

Hi guys, because a lot of discussion is happening here and it may have been missed, I wanted to mention that a small fix was pushed out on Steam to address the hot-seat and singleplayer savegame issues (i.e. stuck diplomacy screen) just a little bit ago.

I notice that there are new graphics for great people (and maybe workers too) when you hit the industrial age. Work boats too

They have to be updated by the author. Though simple data mods may still work.

Apparently we'll need to new SDK, which isn't out yet, to update them?

I just have simple civilizations yet they're crashing for me. Is there a place with the list of things I need to update?

Mod Browser/Loader is broken (again!) - see screen shot - the loader thinks the mod depends on another, when it doesn't

EDIT: and on a related note, the info in the second screen-shot is useless to anyone

Cant understand this at all.

Got new patch the other day - everything fine, I can see the updated graphics etc. Turn times were much better than before.

Today I noticed a very small additional patch to this. And now...the turn times are back to slow again - same as before.

The "improved" turn times were a bug, where the AI's had their turns simultaneously instead of in sequence. It caused other bugs, and was never (apparently) intentional.

In particular it caused a bug in diplomacy that (as I understand it) could make the game unplayable.

Can anyone recall the message that used to come out with an AI losing their capital?

Today I got the mouse over message "Genghis Khan has lost their capital......." I thought previously it had said "The Mongols have lost their capital....."

However, with my memory, I could be wrong.

Yes, the bug caused the game to crash if multiple leaders wanted to talk to you and you also researched a new tech that turn. Furthermore, the CPU would become very active all the time (i.e. computer becomes very hot and fans start blowing all the time) and some other bugs. You can find the details in this topic.

Hello Fellow Die Hard Civ Fans,

One questions for this patch is which version should you be playing now.

I just saw I downloaded 48 megs for the patch. When I loaded the game my version comes up as : 1.0.3.18

What is the current up to date version with this new patch.

Thanks
