Patch not Patching

I just reinstalled Civ 4 and have just finished a few awesome games with the Warlords and BtS expansion (awesome). I really love mods though, but all of them seem to need the 3.19 patch for Beyond the Sword; it wasn't a problem until I went to Advanced --> Check for Updates --> and started downloading the 3.19 patch.

Once it finished it exited to the desktop and did absolutely nothing... I'm aware I needed to install all the other patches 3.03 --> 3.17 beforehand but only knew that after I tried installing 3.19. It didn't seem like a big problem until the patch installers thought that 3.19 was installed even though "About this Build" said Civ Version 303


I really want to play the Rise of Mankind - a New Dawn mod, but then this happened...

Should a clean reinstall work? I'm still looking for the game's case

The in-game patching doesn't work for 3.19, you'll have to download and install the patch outside of the game. You usually only need to install 3.17 before 3.19 rather than all the patches from the beginning. Kwitt's thread stickied in this forum goes though the safest process for a complete install including patching and install location and sequence. If you installed to the default location and want to use mods you will most likely have problems if you have Vista or above so a reinstall is likely to be on the cards for you anyway.

Thanks for replying. Anyway, I'm going to try and reinstall. Hopefully that should work. Does this mean I just skip the 3.03 and 3.13 patches? My Civ says it is version 303.

Some patches are no longer available on Firaxis website, however, I have re-uploaded the missing patches to Atomicgamer via civfanatics download links
