Patch releases

Is there somewhere new patches are being announced and described that I just don't know about? Seems I only ever hear of a new patch because someone started using a letter to describe their game I hadn't seen before. Have D, just getting E now... when did E come out, and what's different in it?

Right. But no alert letting us know to check that thread when a new patch is out.

It doesn't take much to just click the thread and see what the latest patch is - There's no reason that Kael & Co. should have to find some other way to alert us. If you really want a one-stop alert, just bookmark that thread.

I have wanted a subscription list for a while. So people can sign up and we would send out emails announcing new major versions (i probably wouldn't use it for individual patches though). But thus far I haven't found an easy way to do it that integrates with everything else we are doing here.

You could post a new thread each time, couldn't you? Just a quick "patch 'E' released" and a list of the changes. Could even lock it immediately to discourage people discussing it there, if you'd rather balance/bug/cosmetic feedback to go in the extant threads.

Well you could hover the mouse over the bug thread, that shows you the first few lines of the thread which includes the latest released patch, then you would know when new ones were released...

best bet would have a locked thread that everyone could subscribe to and only Kael and team could post in.

I think the current method works best. Us die harders download it the hour/minute it is released, use it, find a few Tweaks early and them the rest of the community eventually gets around to d/ling it. I just hover my mouse daily over the thread to see if there is a new patch. takes a second lol

Just always read the bug thread's new posts... Kael makes a new entry announcing the release of a patch, and the rest of the information is typically good to know.

Or if reading the bugthread isn't your thing, go out to the Modpacks forum and follow the FfH2 post there, good conversation with many people who don't actually come over to the main forum, and again, Kael posts when the latest patch is released.
