pathfinder question??

does the pathfinder unit upgrade at all??? Did i just waste a lot of time fighting barbs and upgrading the unit to have it not beable to upgrade to any other type of unit? according to the civilopediea, it does not upgrade to another unit type..

It can upgrade to a Comp. Bow if you select weapons from a ruin, but otherwise, no.

Scout units don't upgrade into anything, unfortunately. I wonder why they took out the Explorer from Civ 4. But yeah, pathfinders upgrade into comp. bow from ruins, so that's pretty good.

Nope. They keep Native Tongue, so they can keep picking ruin rewards even after becoming a Comp. Bow, or Bowfinder, as I've taken to calling them.

I found Mt. Kilimanjaro with one of my Bowfinders last night. The Altitude Training stacks with the scout movement and suddenly you have something that can fly over like 4 hills in a row and has the best ranged attack in the ancient era. It rocks.

It's the promotion you get from moving into a tile adjacent to Mt. Kilimanjaro. It allows you to treat hills as roads apparently.

Mt kil gives your units bonus movement over hills. If you're the inca you would be very very happy

Do you have to have kili in your borders and does the promotion stay on upgrade? Also in theory could if you got them all of your units to it get the upgrade on all of them?

1) No, in borders not necessary

2) Yes, stays on upgrade

3) Yes, if you moved all your land units to it, you could get it on all of them

But here's the big question: once promoted by a ruin, does it upgrade from Composite Bow line in the later eras, or does it always remain a bow?
