My big complaint with PBEM is that they start so slowly and take a long time to get going. So I put together a scenario where each player starts with more units:

3 Settlers
2 Workers
2 Wariors
1 Scout

What do y'all think? I'd like to start a game with this scenario with 3-5 human players, computer player to make up 8 and a random map with the following suggested setup:
large world, 70% ocean, Pangaea, normal climate, temperate, 4 billlion years, roaming barbarians. I'm flexible with the setup if you have a strong preference.

I don't have a ton of time so how about turns once a day or so. It may be a slow game, but at least there will be stuff to do from the start ;)

I am thinking about it.
one to two turns per day would be good, no more no less

I would prefer that no AI is involved.

what about accelerated production?

what kind of game style do you want?
classic (U.N. ; S.R. ; C. ; D; Histo) are all fine
dont think i would want to do the new styles yet.

FYI - I may only be able to get 1 turn in on weekends

So should we only have 3-5 players total or should there be ~8 humans?

>what about accelerated production?

I am willing to consider that. It could be interesting.

Agreed, I'd like to try this out before adding any more variables.

May I suggest 5x city with settler, worker, warrior each. It took me far too long to get a hotseat game going, and that with only 2 humans (both me) and 5 ai's... Still, I think pbem is most like the 'old' civ3, meaning that it will be my favorite.

I am very interested in playing in this game. As someone still pretty new to CivIII, I don't have a lot of opinions on how the setup should be handled, with the following exceptions:

1) No AI. It would be a far more dynamic and enjoyable game with all human players.

2) I'd love to see all standard victory conditions enabled and have it be a normal game. Might take a long time to play, but to me, PBEM was designed for longer 'campaigns'.

3) To make things easier for you, I'd suggest keeping it small. Getting 8 people to send in turns daily will be a real chore. I'd pick a few dedicated players.

4) I'd cap it at one turn a day. It would be challenging to coordinate a couple turns per day because of time zone differences, work schedules, etc.

Again, I am still pretty new to CivIII (consider me easy prey) and I have not played PBEM at all yet, so my thoughts might be off-base and influenced by other games.

Please let me know what you think, and if there is space for me in your game.
