PBEM THE GREAT WAR - Div Level

OK! I understand, but I post in the temp. leave thread, so I don't think I'm being replaced temporary! I think that's too quick to do something like that!
The game has been stalled some time, as some people let know some sciences they had where gone, and before that because someone lost the turncount. We didn't replaced people those, did we?
When we could go on, I've played immediately.
Unfortunately (for me) I planned a holiday last week, with result I'm being temporarely replaced!

I´m sorry Redman. It was my idea that Eric should play your turn while you were on holiday. Aksully (last player in our turn order) finished his turn on the 24:th and I read in the temprary leave announcement that you would probably be able to play on the 30:th. We didnt wanna wait for 6 days now when we´ve just got the game rolling again.
Had we known that you would have been back this early we would of course have waited. My apologies.

Battles wage between French and German forces from Verdun to Nancy to Besancon. The situation is grim but French forces are determined to hold or fight to the last!

4 German Infantry and one Cavalry Divisions KIA North of Besancon.

French Arty injured several Divisions near Verdun and Nancy.

Italy, week 38 1914.

A new turn (8 if I'm right) has begon. I've taken control of the Italians forces again. Send the turn to Andis-1.

Austria-Hungary:
We found and executed a AH-spy in Rome. Let this be a warning!
Bombarded/damaged troops E of Antivari.
Bombarded/damaged troops NE of Tirana.
Bombarded/damaged troops NW of Venice.
Bombarded/damaged troops N of Tirana and destroyed by General Cadorna.
Bombarded Ragusa, damaging ships in the harbour.

Ottoman:
Destroyed improvements NW of Dede-Agach and the city itself.

gps.

battle report:
bombed venice, antivari, and bari.
pillaged land near miland and belgrade.

Destroyed some roads in Arabia.

All the sailors wanted to participate in the bombardement of the brand new German BB at the doors of London. After being hit from a far a few times by multiple types of ship, a British BB converted it into a permanent submarine.

If it makes you feel better, I did something similar a few turns back. It was 'only' a light cruiser but still lost 'cause of a stupid move.

You mean you destroyed improvements in the city or you destroyed the city completely ?

I meant I bombarded the city and hit units in the city, damaging those.

Gps----Loulong

I bombarded Verdun with all my artillery (30+). as usual i destroyed alot of buildings (very annoying rule) and failed alot with hitting troops.

German high command ordered an all out assault against verdun anyway and it was a SLAUGHTER on the german side.

You had no bom shelter or city walls, the only bonus was +50% for city and +25% for being fortified.

I lost 2 armies and 20-30 inf (i lost count after 15)

France lost mostly crappy units and have alot of redlined vets in that city now

Most annoying was when my fresh 15/15 army attacked your 4/12 army and lost!

I think the game is unwinable for the central powers from now on but I will continue anyway if you want it

Mais naturellement nous!

Merci soient à un Dieu

What I have noticed during this siege is that my arty isn't as effective against units in the open as I would expect it to be.

One thing to be sure is...there will be a lot of craters around Verdun! ANd my ALlies will be sure to say how much I was sweating this turn's attacks!!!

??? What do you mean n the first sentence Aksully ? The second would be "Loué soit dieu/le seigneur".

The Ottomans killed one Rumanian infantry in Crajova and killed a Russian cavalry near Sofia.
Lost a submarine vs French ligh cruiser squadron SW of Greece.

Mostly cleant the Hedjaz area : 2 garissons, entente inf, 1 British A Inf and 2 guerillas were killed. No losses.

My French is only as good as my translator!!!

Sentences intended to say...

"But of course" was in reply to continuing to play on. I don't think the outcome of one battle should mean the end of the game. We have invested too much blood, sweat, and tears to get this thing up and running!!

The second translation was intended to say, "Thanks be to God" as a response and relief to Verdun holding after taking such a beating!

I guess I need to go back to school and learn French!!!!

Week 38, 1914

Two armies appear on the Eastern front, a German one near Konigsberg
and an even larger AH on just north of Crajova, seen screenshots.

We bombarded 2 AH units on a hill N of Bucharest to red line status,
then we attacked losing 3 Cossacks a a Russian A inf., leaving one AH
machine gun unit promoted to elite.

The desperate forces and occupants of Verdun hunker down for follow-on German attacks. But the defenders smile..just a little. As the sound of 155mm guns fill their ears and the huge stacks of German troops feel the effects of cold steel....out in the open.

Verdun may fall this next turn. But not without a stoic and heroic fight!

VIVA la Verdun...VIVA la Francais!

just a heads up.

It seems that I have to quit the game after this turn. I won't have access to computer with civ after this week until august, thus I'm not able to continue this ...
