I mean what everyone else here who has mentioned it means. I mean any contact made can be done via email or IM, and this would be done "in character".

I'm glad, though, that you clarified for me that Civ IV is a strategy game :p

Uther, did you mean to balance out the alignments? I had assumed so, but I just remembered that Arendel is Good, not Neutral. That would put 3 Good, 1 Neutral, and 2 Evil in the game.

If you wish for the alignments to be balanced, which makes sense to me, please change Arendel to Amelanchier.

I, for one, am planning to play 'in character' rather than focusing on winning, so role-play is a given.

I'm still not sure what you mean with contacts "in charachter". Any PBEM I played had contacts via private messages. If by "in charachter" you mean that these messages should be written in a roleplaying fashion like "You demon ! Retreat to your world or war shall be !", then I'm ok with it, if that's what everyone wants (I agree with you that everyone should agree).

The small band of Sheaim had halted for the night, in the middle of a bright grassy plain. Their leader, Os-Gabella, and her staff was in the command tent, discussing their next move.

"Mistress, how about it? Could this not be a good place to settle down?"
Her lieutenant - a woman, like the rest of the staff - was tired of the long journey.

"No, no, no - not at all defensible, and what about all this, "- Os-Gabella gestures at the ground - ", this green? No, I believe we want to stay..." -she pushes aside the tent flap and walks outside, pointing at some hills in the distance- "...there. Yes, that will do nicely."

"As you say, mistress."


Played my turn, sent save file to wolfman1234.

Ditto - plus that's how I normally play in single player games.

I'm not willing to get into any sort of debate about what "in character" means. The game's started (yay!) and we can adjust as we go, if need be.

can't load the save, it asks me for wolfman's password ?

PS: you probably played the turn, saved and then sent me the file (the name's woflman1234 0001). That's not what you should do. You should press the end of the turn and the game will save as wolfman - to - onedreamer or something similar, I can't recall now. If you configure your smtp server ingame the game will even directly email me this save file.

Difficulty does have an impact even in multiplayer. More happyness in the cities, less and weaker barbarians, and better risults from huts...
