Peace with France?

Another problem with continuing the war is the war unhappiness that is already hurting us, and will only increase over time.
The same can be said about ending the war. The captured cities will "yearn for the motherland" and be unhappy as long as Napoleon is alive.

You really ought to consider at least taking Paris. Especially since the forces are already lined up outside Orleans. Capitals are usually some prime real estate. Then just raze the other 2 cities and be done with him.

Well on the point of the "War Goals" thread, any peace agreement should be polled, and should that peace agreement be approved with a poll it would overrule the previous war goals poll.

Oh, I agree. But there have been a couple of comments in this thread that we've achieved our war goals, and clearly we haven't.

We really shouldn't lose sight of this. Falcon02 said earlier in this thread that he was afraid Orleans might flip if we stop the war. I'd add Rheims and Lyon to that list. Lyon, in particular, has a lot of squares that are as little as 2% Yasutanian. If we end the war now and these cities flip back to the French we may discover the war has yielded us nothing except a lot of wasted time, energy, and expense.

Several orders of reasons were posted to accept peace:

a) City maintenance: I cannot agree with this; so, no money to pay
maintenance for conquered cities, but enough money for that two settlers
go (where to?); and to conquer some barb city, again no money?;

b) Economy: Happily our economy is not in bad shape; within 5 turns a
GProphet shall come from NotA to EA and build there the Holy Shrine for
gold ( citizens can pray there to be forgiven of the sin of allow slavery at
next opportunity);

c) Troops supply:is 21 gold/turn to much for the safety and cities we got?;

d) Last, we can trade 10 turns peace for 2 techs and some gold: This looks
tempting, not bad deal,really; but, I agree with Conroe, avoid diplomacy
penalty and put them away before Romans or German have ideas; and,
remember, any alive enemy is dangerous.

So, I say go on with the war and defeat them as fast as we can.
Marseilles is worth, Paris surely shall be. Just unhappiness to want to join
motherland is not.

Best regards,

There will be, I'll schedule my next play session on Friday 25th sometime.

Thought I'll post the 700AD power graph here

We have quite a commanding lead and should have no problem finishing Nappy off. However, our economy and research would encounter some problems.

Regarding the issue of courthouses, I'm not sure we can build them in all our cities except the capital. Many of them are still developing and thus have little production and/or population to whip.

We should be weary of Caesar -- even he's starting to grow on the powergraph. I sense continental warfare. :)

Agreed he appears to be trying to catch up to us.

BTW, there's a barb city near Riversight. (Near one of our suggested city sites a while back, I think).

Please read the turnchat log and/or the instructions I received. We've split off some units to capture the barbarian city near Riversight.
