*I figured this thread was more appropriate in the strategy forum*
First off, let me state that I have very little multiplayer experience with the Civ series. So far I've just done a couple multiplayer games with my roommate in which we work together against the AI.
But he favors the cultural and peaceful approach to the game. And I agree, I think that's one of my favorite ways to play. Maybe have a scuffle early on over some resources or something, but for the vast majority the game is playing peacefully.... improving tech, gaining culture, diplomacy, etc...
When it comes to multiplayer though, isn't it just the nature of the game to lean towards war? Don't other players just instinctively go to war throughout the entire campaign? I know if I saw my neighbor taking the peaceful approach, with not much of an army, I'd be VERY tempted to roll right over his borders.
Because how much does diplomacy come into play when there's no AI???
After the initial land-grab settles down, has anyone played a multiplayer game that was strictly a race to a cultural or SS victory.... peacefully?
Just looking for some insight from you Civ multiplayer veterans. Right now I'm still very much enjoying Civ IV singleplayer, but in the near future I'd really like to get into more multiplayer with you fine blokes. That's why I ask.
