Peloponnesian War Scenario Development Thread

Exactly!:)

One note:

Although the "Flavors" option allows civ specific tech tress to work the way they are designed, if you want to garantee a human player doesn't research these techs, the PTW method of giving "era None" techs is still most effective.

yup- I have to say Calgacus- that is one of the best wonder ideas yet!

Yeah, thanks :goodjob: But you know, the Spartans paid a real price for Persian support. During the war they pretended to be fighting for "the freedom of the Greeks", but they handed over the cities of Asia Minor to Persia.

Agesilaos tried to recover Sparta's reputation, but Sparta's three main allies still turned against her

WHich leads to another thought. For the 4 decades between the end of the 2nd Peloponnesian War and the Spartan defeat at 2nd Mantineia, Agesilaos was a collosal figure...almost the dictator of all Greece. Some way, perhaps, should be found for including him in the game ;)

Amenhotep7,
Here is the wonders you wanted...
I hope you like them, my fingers have been tenderized, and I didn't do all the requested ones and some unrequested, but it's fun to get carried away when you have a Spartan Hoplite figure at your fingers.... ;)

Unexisted, you have done a grand service to this scenario! Thank you! I hope u don't mind on me calling upon you in the future should your wonderful services be needed again! Thank you![dance][party]:band::goodjob::thumbsup:

I was getting around to it!;)

What Tech tree should I sketch first? I started on the Spartan Tech Tree, but a thought occured to me: There are so many civs, so how on earth will we sketch one for all of them??? We could have a "generic tech tree" for those who aren't really involved in the war...

I got 3 techs on Sparta's tree: Beginning of Peloponnesian War, which leads to Persian Funding, and Mass Mobilization, which'll allow for recruitment and Armed Helots. Ideas?:D

Could this help? I could make a few techs, wonder splashes and a leaderhead out of this? Would you use it? :)

Hoplite.jpg

Just give me the tech names and how he should look, the wonder and how he should and if want leaderhead. He could be your generic leaderhead for the ones you don't have. :)

WHOA! You'll make leaderheads??? Hmm...Then we might have requests for you.;) As for a generic leaderhead, I'd say that we would need something less warrior-like...I think maybe some dude with a big beard, and a Greek Crown of some sort...:undecide: As for techs, I'm still sketching, so it'll be hard. Sparta's Tech Tree has Beginning of Peloponnesian War, so maybe if you could find some kinda pic that would go along with that...Then there's Persian Funding, which could be a heaping pile o' gold :D, and Mass Mobilization, which I've no idea what it should be.

As for wonders;)... I'll post these in the Graphic Maker thread.:D

P.S. Where is everybody?

well, I am beta-testing (or rather trying to get to work) two different scnearios, combined with having a real life every once in a while ;)

firstlly, I have a few ideas-

- we dont really need to make all that many tech arts- all the ATheina techs for instance could just use the coloums liek the Byzantine tech tree in the middle ages sceanrio, and the Spartan techs just used a Lambada symbol on a red backgroud...

-I dont think the Thebans will need there own tech tree- i think a good reason that the Thebans, despite being so small on the map, might appeal to a player is the ability to work up the standard tech tree, or inother words the "every greek" tech tree... at the middle point of which, they gain a nice trooper

-I aslo dont think the Persian need there own tech tree either, istead just make sure that all of there units are unique to themselves, and that they dont get any of the greek units associated with a tech

@Unexisted- do you make units by any chance? if you do, I have a request i would like to make of you ;)

Hey! I've gotta life...Not on rainy weekends like today though.;)

Ya, Xen's right...We'll use the Civ "Philosophy" Symbol for Athenian Techs, and we just need to find a nice lambda for Sparta.:) Ya, Thebans won't need to have any...Are they really that small? Anywho, the Persians also don't need any tree either...

@Xen- would the unit have something to do with the Peloponnesian War? ;)

no, it would hopefully fullfill my long time wants for an Atlantian unit, one who could be used fo rthe Minoans (sport of).. the perfect unit I could imagine is the recent greek archer by embroyodead, but with a dyplon sheild (think the shield that the civ3 centurion is portrayed with, but with lareger side cut outs) and minoan double axe (or, for more atlantian feel, a trident ;))

I've been wanting to make a scenario like that for a long time now...

Or why not the Atlantean spearman from Poseidon, the Zeus Expansion?;)

I dont like his head crest, its a matter of personal prefernce really, but I dont like transverse crests, besides, is it even possible to convert those guys into civ3 units?

No, but people could try to make something like them...Anyways, I'll agree with ya, the crest is a little weird.:undecide:
