I think it would be interesting to have a minigame competition to go along with the gotm. A minigame would be a save from any point during a game, where a player is challenged to achieve what would be considered the "optimal" output, or achieve some specific goal, after X turns have passed (maybe as many as 5). It would be kind of like the chess puzzles that are in the newspaper where you are challenged to "mate in 5" or whatever other goal they have. Each player could replay the minigame as many times as they wish until they have their desired outcome. It would be much faster than a normal game, and lots of fun! Anyone else with me on this idea?

OK, if you want to pose the problem I will give it a whack. It should be fun! There are similar problem-like aspects at the beginning of most scenarios, and I remember reading some of Xin Yu's fantastic solutions over at Apolyton. That's where we all first got acquainted with size 5 starving science cities.

And of course we all remember the Civ I demo...

Hmmmm (when I get back to a more normal participation schedule) I'm in.

Related idea -- akin to speed chess -- put a time limit on the return. (For those of us who play fast & almost sloppy.)
