Same geographic position through history :p .Besides it wouldn't be cool to see so many ancient dominating civs in the game.I would like though to see turks if firaxis create more civ's in an expansion pack.
Greetings ^_^

Hope no one from Turkey or Iran will read your message !!

First, Persian Empire and Ottoman Empire ain't ancient civilization. The Ottoman Empire failed in 1918 at the same time as Russian and Austrian Empire !!! Same thing for Persia, it ended to be called this way in the 20th century.

Second, Persia has NOTHING to deal with Turkey ! Seriously, brits and french people have more common points than turks and iranians !

Third, same geographic position ? Persepolis is near the Persian Gulf in the middle between Indian subcontinent and middle east. Ankara is in the middle of Asia minor and Istanbul is in Europe.

Turkey is a mediterranean country, Iran is at the middle of Arabia and India.

These countries have nothing in common !

I dont know why firaxis included both the Iriquois and the Chinese, they are almost identical... dont ya think?

*chuckles* Not that I do by any means intend to be dragged into yet another borish flame-war over which is best, Greece or Turkey. But looking at it from the purely historical Civ-wise perspective I'd say they've both had their moments ( centuries ) of glory come and go. Certainly, the Turkish empire lasted longer than the Greek, but then it also started later.

Just some food for thought there.

:nuke:

Believe me, these are two very distinct peoples. The Turks were originally nomads fr the Chinese border and of a more Oriental cast and only arrived in the Mid-east during the early Middle Ages. The Persians were an Indo-European people who settled down in the Iranian plateau eons ago and of an age with the Ancient Greeks.

And FYI, the Ottoman Turks and the Safavid Persians were mortal enemies and the Turks went to war with them more often than with Europe.

nice post Knight :)

even now Iran and Turkey threaten each other a lot. different ideoligies always set them apart (now being secularism vs fundamentalism)

at one point however the Seljuk Turks (first turkish nomads migrating to Asia Minor) conquered Persia and Anatolia so for a while they had the same geography.

i wished they had the Turks in the game they did a lot of conquering and weapon devolopments (early cannons and firearms). but until firaxis gets them in ill play as the Persians or Chinese :p

yikes,u got it all wrong =[ Who replied "turkey better etc"? ,sucky and out of subject =[ .When i said "same geographic position" i meant turkey was a part of persian territory. My previous msg t meant to be a reply my previous msg to another one who compared persian to turks.anyway ^_^

ehh...homer, the Iriquois are the native americans, what do they have in common whit the chinese?

Well, if you follow the most popular theory of North American settling, them asians settled North America.

What do they have in common? Probably nothing more than genes and tonal languages that whities like me don't understand.

Going off topic...
I like playing the Iroquois as Canadians. Call your capital Ottawa and you are good to go. Keep thinking up cities that have native names. There's a lot of them.

Seems that people don't see irony when they meet it :crazyeyes
I'm pretty sure, homer was making a joke on the stupid comparison of Turks and Persians.

o_O: You post complete nonsense!

WELL AT LAST -or at first- A PERSON FROM TURKEY READ YOUR MESSAGE...

FORGET ANY SIMILARITY BETWEEN CULTURE OF TURKS AND THE PERSIANS EVEN THE GEOGRAPHIC PLACE OF THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME.THEY ARE DIFFERENT IN A WAY GREECE AND ROMANS ARE,INDIANS AND ARABS ARE,EVEN PERSIANS AND IRAN ARE!

BY THE WAY IT WAS NOT THE TURKS BEING RULED BY THE PERSIANS BUT PERSIANS BEING RULED BY THE TURKS;JUST THE WAY GREEKS RULED BY THE TURKS!

DO NOT DISCARD THE HISTORY. :king:

hey i think the argument is already done... cause i see that everybody has got a lot of detailed info -and all many of them totally correct- about Turks... i mean if there is an impact of Turks at that scale, and if this nation makes the people curious about its history, it means something is already done... i m a turk and i m disappointed about that... i dunno if there is any subjectivity of Firaxis or not... moreover, our greek friend is some kinda kiddin maybe... or just underestimating turks... cause Turks had 2 Empires called Gokturks and Ottomans that ruled both over nearly whole world for centuries...:p

borga is right,no one here is thinking as a gamer !!!! ofcourse every civ it's not the same that doesnt mean that u must have a civ3 with 10000 civs... i read so many irrelevant replies...when someone is reading Gazis msg he thinks that turks r in fact part of civ3 and it was on civ1 and civ2 as well, they were the barbarian hordes....
Too many ppl attacked me while it was obvious that i had no bad intention and the meaning of my original post(who meant to be a reply to another topic) was that in gaming mode persians and turks have many similarities:(

WHEN WRITING AN OPINION ABOUT MY POSTS,I SUGGEST YOU READ THEM CAREFULLY:crazyeyes: BECAUSE I DIDN'T MEAN TURKS WERE A PART OF THE GAME IN CIV1 CIV2 OR CIV3.I SAID THEY TOOK PLACE ONLY AND ONLY IN CTP2 -for those who were not able to understand : CALL TO POWER 2-

BY THE WAY,CALLING TURKS AS THE BARBARIAN HORDES IS NOTHING BUT IGNORANCE OF SOME ILL-MINDED PEOPLE.DON'T BE SO JEALOUS OF US

Maybe a good chunk of the known world, and even that is a debateable statement

I wonder what some Balkan people called the Barbarian hordes over those centuries. There is a lot of history in the Balkans dealing with the barbarian hordes. I doubt their resentment is based on jealousy. Not to say the Turks were the only barbarian hordes to infest the land. There have been many skirmishes of various racial barbarian hordes in that area.
Don't take the comment of barbarian horde as such a slant. The Scots celebrate their heritage, the French almost deny it, and the Norwegians are completely apathetic to their history of barbarian hordes; but all fess up to the fact.
They were people hundreds of years ago, not your mom.

This is not the place for revisting the history of Central Asia. fascinating as the real Turks and Persians were this is a forum for a computer game. Could I please see some posts about the _game_ civilisations?

I have played the Romans a bit and I find their "militarism" useful. The main advantage is that it is relatively easy to get leaders.

Well i dont think that Turks have anythink to do with persians (even in military way of acting)The persans are an ancient people more over 800 b.c they create a big empire before turkey had even imagine her existance and its sure that the way of the civilization was totally different even now in the modern years the relationships between the iran and turkey are not good and usa is always try to make the communication between those two countries more warm. When we talk about hordes we should first talk about which period of history.
Turkeys its sure that untill 1300 was acting like horde but please after 1300 a.d its sure that they bigun to create a state who had civilization and he finally approach his pick at 1400-1600 a.d well its sure that in those years ottoman empire was not a horde. Hordes are not make improvements or churchs so for now on after 1300 we talk about a birth of a civilization.
