I have found out recently...

It's Petljakov Pe-8...

I've seen it spelled with a 'y' in other sources. I think it depends on the translation, since the cyrillic alphabet has more letters than ours does, so some Russian letters don't have a direct correlation. This may be a case where one way of spelling has chosen letters that most resemble the Russian version, and the other is one that is closer phonetically.

Yeah - in most slavic languages J is spelled like Y in word Yugoslavia.
In 1939 i use form Petlyakov (Petlakow Pe-8 for polish translation)

Snipperrabbit!! is absolutely right. I can't tell you how many times I have played other games, like HoI, and found myself thinking, "I wonder how I could mod that feature into Civ 4...?"
