Pirates, Really?

Finallly about El Dorado, the best candidate for it was the Muisca and specifically Lake Guatavita, the Spanish found literal lake filled with gold, and in their minds it still wasn't "El Doradoy" enough,, curiosuly in North America they did the same looking for the 7 cities of gold. Almost like it was the popular fictional media of the time as well.
Paititi bothered me most of all in Civ 6, maybe because it wasn't natural enough but a "lost city". This would have been a better option. The others didn't bother me too much but I didn't care for any more.
Due to the location I easily envisioned Bermuda Triangle as the Sargasso Sea and the Fountain of Youth as the Sacred Cenote.

Paititi could be interpreted as a random pre-Columbian city, like Kuhikugu, so it bothers me less than the Bermuda Triangle. However, since Paititi sounds very specific, renaming it as “Lost City” might work better. Either way, I’d prefer not to see Paititi return, considering there are countless other historically verified pre-Columbian settlements they could use instead.

personally I don't see the need to add fictional places to civ just because they are famous in popular American media.
Like I said, I completely get it.

(incidentally, I learned about the Bermuda Triangle as a kid in the UK - nothing really US-centric about my coming across it)

Fantasy elements should be avoided as much as possible, and when included, they should be optional. I always disable those fantasy wonders in Civ6, and I’d like to be able to do the same with the Bermuda Triangle in Civ7.
Yeah I try to not get very hung up on it because later we'll surely be able to disable it.

Yeah, the main thing was calling a "lost city" a natural wonder. I would have been less bothered by it if they made it a city-state.

Those inclusions make me hope for an actual cathegory of "Lost city" inspired by actual cities that where believed to be mythic until found, we have archeologist after all.
