This was a bit confusing. The active ability "provides a significantly increased temporary movement", but this above is what they showed when seeing it.

Passive ability: Gives more infamy for revealing more hexes of the map.

Passive ability: Reduced cost of unit maintenance. Grants bonus points for burying treasury. Provides interest on treasury.

It's 1-4 players, so you can play it against the AI.

From the look of it, you are always "playing against the AI" - who will always be playing the colonial powers (i.e. England, Spain, etc..) and the buccaneers/legendary pirates.

So my guess is, at 1 player, you are actually just the only pirate faction, and are competing to survive/beat your high score. Rather than them having programmed the AI to be able to play a pirate faction. Which seems like workable approach to me (and, frankly, how the original Pirates! worked as a single player game).

Featurewise, it looks like a nice scenario. Lets hope that the AI either is able to play as Pirate faction as well or that (in case it is one Pirate faction vs. Naval Powers/Legendary Pirates in SP) the balance doesn't suffer depending on how many pirate factions are on board (my fear is that when facing them alone you might just get overrunned).

I was hoping for a Kraken barbarian-like unit :)
I can only imagine the complaints though. I'm fine to keeping this one historical as possible.

Didn't it originate in Norse mythology so it might have worked better in the Vikings Scenario instead of a Caribbean setting, if they were to make it somewhat fantasy-like.
