Dear all,

I am posting on behalf of an interdisciplinary group from the Northeastern University, Texas A&M University-Commerce, and Waseda University in Japan.
There is a ongoing research, in which I'm also involved, on decision making processes in Civ4.
I am writing here in order to recruit Civ4 experienced players that are willing to play a mod designed to investigate the issues.

In the mod I am posting below, you will play as Rome, with quick speed. All victory conditions are enabled.
The map is generated randomly through Rhye's and Fall RAND algorithm. It is toroidal (wrap both X and Y).
Rules are vanilla (a standard games with 7 players), except the rules about territory, which comply with Rhye's and Fall.

---------------------------

Instructions for running the mod:

1) Check that in your .ini file (C:\Users\....nomeutente.....\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini) LoggingEnabled is = 1

2) Download from here:
rhye.civfanatics.net/files/TestRFCRAND_rev3.zip

3) Unpack the contents of the zip into:
....game folder.....\Beyond the Swords\mods\
Please note that the game folder is NOT the one inside documents folder.

4) Launch “Beyond the Sword”; in the main menu select Advanced -> Load a mod -> TestRFCRAND

5) Start playing. The mod collects automatically play data in a log file located in
C:\Users\....username.....\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Logs\PythonDbg.log

6) Whenever you interrupt a play session, save and continue at a later time, please post here the log file and the save file at the end of each play session, incuding the end game one.

Please don't post spoliers!

Dear Rhye, it's great to see you around! It's been a while ;)

What are the RFC territory rules that you are referring to? Everything so far feels very vanila. I must tell you in secret that I bought BTS just to play your mod and almost never play vanila. I honestly believe that regular civ game has to operate with your rules in place. Civilizations do rise and fall after all.

Anyway, I played some turns with Rome. No spoilers ;)

Thank you very much for the games you posted so far!
I think you found it quite easy to play, isn't it? On the other hand, we collected data from unexperienced players who seem to have struggled a lot.
It's gonna be interesting to compare the data of the two groups.

Dear Tigranes, thank you very much for your appreciation.

I'm sorry to say that you posted the wrong log file :/
The correct one is PythonDbg.txt, which if by chance you haven't played Civ4 after this game, should still be there in the folder. If you played Civ4 again, it has been replaced.

I posted a save in another thread but have attached both the save and the log that I had trouble attaching previously.

I've played since BTS release but never got close to Diety or something. And later I've played lots of Civ5 and other later 4X. Not a powerplayer, I'd say. Is this enough for your requirements for "expirienced" players?

No wonder you're not modding Civ6 !!! I guess sometimes life gets in the way. When is the cut off for submissions?

Judging by the difficulty level I am an experienced player after all.

Done in 1 session. But I have no PythonDbg.log file, only PythonErr2.log. Probably useless game.

Here is my log. I had to zip it because .log upload would not work.
