Playground Mod

K.

Yep. I have no idea how stupidity gets so out of hand. (very odd how the one in WHF2.0 is stronger than ours, yet it does way less damage.) We're changing it to their stats to see how it works. And then if it still doesn't work, then we'll put it on optional.

Ok! And do you have a shunned gov? Or should I just put it as School Boards, like you dislike the teachers?

Might as well make School Boards the shunned government. However, if there's ever a jock-type civ added along with their own government then that should be the shunned government.

Went through the mod's civilopedia this morning and have come up with some preliminary unit ideas. These will take the form of Tech - Unit - Stats. I have not yet thought of other factors like cost, abilities, bombard values and what not. Haven't looked for unit graphics yet either.

(1st Era)
3rd Grade - Chasing Swordman - 5.1.2 (Definitely use the Firaxis Gallic Swordman graphics)

(2nd Era)
4th Grade - Chasing Spearman - 1.7.2
Nationalism - Chasing Knight - 9.2.2
Military Training - Chasing Infantry - 6.6.2
5th Grade - Chasing Defender - 6.9.3

(3rd Era)
Archery - Chasing Archer - 11.6.2
Sword Fighting - Chasing Soldier - 9.8.2
Mass Production - Chasing Swarm - 7.7.3 (intended to be used en mass)
Military Specialization - Chasing Sniper - 13.8.2

(4th Era)
Special Forces - Elite Chaser - 15.15.3
Armored Vehicles - All-Terrain AAV - 19.19.3 (all terrain as roads)
Advanced Warfare - Final Chaser - 17.17.3

All in all I tried to design these to be weaker but faster than most of the other units in the same era. Some of these units could probably have their stats lowered a little more, though.

One note.

The All-Terrain AAV already has a similar counterpart: The Horse Hovering AAV. (so... how about an AAV that has high movement, and decent attack, but not as fast as the scout AAV? Or, the speed could be increased, and attack lowered a little bit, but blitz?)

That'll be good.

Ok, and another question. Are you going to look for the animations, or do you want me to do it? (I'm going to modify some of the names a bit, but I'll keep pretty much what you've got.)

I'm looking for unit animations on my own. However, I find myself picking units in such a way that I fear this civ will end up looking kind of generic. I'm not sure if I should go for a theme or not. If you have any ideas for animations I'd be glad to hear them, though.

Theme is fine.

The current themes that already exist:

Horse: Horses (lots of mounted units)
GWC: Sci Fi
Char: Anything with Fire
Girls: Umm, Girls?
Rebs: Arabic
BU: Medieval Europe
FA: Medieval Japan
Barbarian: Viking/Pirate
Staff: Modern Infantry
Senso: Magic/Zombie/Skeletons
UF: Mixed

So, I was thinking of a Native American theme, (with occasional other units) as a lot of others have been taken.

Native American would be fine except I've had difficulty finding such units that I like. I could try harder, though.

What I have now is a strange mixture between Celtic and Chinese units, with a few Final Fantasy units thrown in. I'd love to have all Final Fantasy units, actually, but I haven't been able to find enough that would be appropriate.

I should probably just aim for Native American or Celtic.

Okay, here are some unit ideas:

Chasing Swordman (Rename to Chasing Warrior) - Kinboat's Native Warrior

Sadly I have no eye for tanks. Do you think you could pick out the All-Terrain AAV instead?

Ha. Sure, why not. I think Chase liked Star Wars for a while anyway, so it's appropriate. It'll help make up for the low-tech nature of the other units too.

Oh in the mod, most of the tanks are low tech. (We have the Mark I tank, a Mark IV tank [massive box with guns], French late WWI Tank, an armored scout car, etc.)

Okay, I know I haven't been posting as many units as I've been planning to (I was planning on getting at least two done a day, so we'd be done with all the new units really fast), but school and cross country have been getting in the way, and I don't have time to think of units, search for animations, and then make stats. As soon as we get some kinda holiday or break, I'll start working, but until then, I can only think of ideas that won't require me taking large amounts of time to fully plan out.

Okay, here's one of those ideas. I was thinking that maybe we could add another difficulty level, that would be like a Beyond Sid level. It would be called High Schooler, of course.;)

And another idea that won't probably won't be accomplished anytime soon, but would be really cool. Make the background of the civiclopedia resemble a test. Like, with lined notebook paper, and test questions and answers, and a big red F on the top with the comment "See me after class"....:mischief:

Final idea for now. Adding the concept of GPA. Your grade would be a small wonder that you build in your city. The possible grades would be F, D, C, B, and A. They would be flagged with the "Replace things with same flag" flag thingy. Having a GPA of F would create lots of happiness, but no (or negative if possible.... Not sure, haven't checked the editor recently) production. D would create less happyness, but would make more production than F, and so on, until you get to A, which would create no happiness, but would make lots off production.

1. How do you plant to do this?
2. Like what they did in EFZI? I know how to do this.
3. Interesting idea. But how would Fs make kids happy? As would make kids happy.

1. Just add another difficulty level, but make it more difficultness. Don't ask me for specific stats, I can't get to the editor right now....
2. Good!:D
3. The kid's would be happy because they'd be spending their time playing instead of studying.:)
