playing civ 3 complete on vista/7

i can play a multiplayer game with friends and not connected to the internet on my xp system, but i cant get the arrows to show up in multiplayer with my laptop with vista and windows 7.

anyone know why you have to be connected to the internet to play civ 3 on these newer operating systems?

pain to have to hook up to the net just to start a game, lol.

If you are playing an MP game you would either do it via the net or PMEM. That is not dependant upon the OS. If you are talking about just a solo game, the only reason you would need the net is that you have a digital version.

AFAIK the only version that requires the net to play is civ5 on Steam and even that can be played without it, but not get the stats things. Forget what they called them now.
