Hi everybody,
How to play without web access?
When I click on "Start in off-line mode", I am getting error message "Could not connect to Steam network". At least silly.

I guess then you had not saved your account details before, which is necessary, right?
Then...then the question is, how you're going online right now? You might want to try to connect your gaming machine to your WLAN, or put temporary the network card from your current online machine into your gaming computer.

I have several computers at home. Actually, my gaming computer was the worst one in terms of stability. So, I do not want to connect it to the net again; I would like to test it off-line for crashes while playing Civ V. I do not have any problems with connecting to my Steam account trough other computers. But it looks like their -Steam- help desk stuff is unable to help me. Or may be they are just retired for a weekend.

From what i know, you have to connect it now at least once, save your account data, and take it afterwards offline.
Will not work else. Online DRM doesn't go well without "online" :/.

If you've sent a ticket to them, then it might take several days until you get an answer. So they are primary not unable (no idea if or if not they are), they are primary slow.

What does it mean "save your account data"?
Wasn't it saved yesterdy when I played Civ V?
And I have connected to my Steam account today from another computer. What else should I save?

You'll need to conenct your gamnig comptuer ot the internet and start Steam (and let it finish any updates) and go to the settings menu and select save account credentials (iirc) for this computer then you can start Steam in offline mode from then on.

In Steam, look in the menu under Steam>Settings
On the Account tab there is a check box at the bottom for "Don't save account credentials on this computer"

If that box is checked your account details are not save and you can not run steam offline. If it is checked you will need to uncheck it and be on-line before your details will be saved.

If it is already unchecked, then I guess you'll have to wait for steam support.

PrinceScamp and Furiey, thank you very much.
I have ordered new wifi adapter from Amazon, have to wait for about week or two (hoped to play meantime in off-line mode, silly me...)
OK, will wait for adapter or for responce from Steam staff, whichever come first. They (staff) have at least a week to beat Amazon.
Steam sucks. Both in design and implementation.
