Please Help, Game wont start

Hi, i have recently purchased CivIV so i installed with no problems. So i double clicked on the shortcut in my desktop first i got a loading screen then that disapperred and then another screen came up with a loading bar with "loading xml" written by it, this only flashed up for about half a second before dissapering. And after that nothing happend. Please Help.

Thats a classic V1 error, so you likely loaded out of the box. You will need to load Patch V1.52. But before that (44mb download ....), please post your dxdiag so we can look at the system as a whole

Start Button - click - select run - type dxdiag - press enter - wait a min - select "save all information" - remember where you saved it - post the file as an attachment using the 'go advanced' button below

Sorry im not really good with technical cmputer stuff, how do i find this out?

EDIT: i think it was custom made if that helps

Look in the manual of your PC - it will tell your there (Dell 8250, IBM xxxx, etc PC equivalent to the make and model number of a car)

Okay i think this is the manual it says its a foxconn with a model name of 661M03

Should be fine with that setup - no speed records, and you may have problems with Huge maps or with Large Map late games due to video card limitations. But overall should be fine in the end ....

First thing you need to do is download the patch from here (read the page, several download links at the end of it)

Its a large Patch (44Mb) so if you on dial up, get the download running and go to bed .... be there in the morning, Broadband will take 5 mins or so.

When its downloaded (remember where you saved it), run the exe file and let it do its thing. When done, startup the game, and let us know any issues - there maybe some, keep expectations on the level until we've got it stable

Dont hesitate to post if you have questions or hit problems

Great game very addictive, i was a little dissapointed there wasnt a campaign or something but the scenarios take so long to complete im sure it wont matter.

My very first game has gone great so far, started as america made aload of cities. And became the best civilisation acording to the chart thing, but france have just declarred war on me, they destroyed chigago unfortunately but that was all, im trying to strike a peace agrement with them at the moment, and hopefully when i have the right technology i shall nuke them

Im currently in the year 1625 though so i may have to wait a while.
