Please Insert Correct CD-Rom

Alright I have the CD ROM edition so I have two disks. I have tried Disc 1 and Disc 2. When I put it in I get the ol error that tells me to put the correct cd in and press play, then when yuo do that to eject reinsert and press play. You all know what I am talking about.

I have installed the patch and that did nothing. I am positive because it says version 1.61 or whatever.

I used to have Nero and ALcohol in the past cuz my cousin installed them. I uninstalled them long ago cuz i didnt know what the hell they did

How can I get this game to work? Any replies appreciated. This is really frustrating

Okay, are you using the same drive you installed from? Sometimes Civ4 throws a fit if it's not the same drive you installed from. If yes, then I suggest uninstalling , making sure the files it puts into the program files section and my documents are deleted, then reinstalling it. That usually fixes the problem.

For the record, I only have one disc drive. Only one CD tray if that's what you mean by that. If that is NOT what you mean, then I have no idea what you mean. I will try uninstalling and deleting the stuff tonight.

You mean the folders in Firaxis Games and stuff like that?

Okay, one drive, so it's not the CD drive.

Yes, in the c:\program files\Firaxis\ (do the normal uninstall routine, then make sure those folders are GONE!).

Check also the My Documents folder under "my games\civ4" or where ever it's been placed and make sure those are gone too before reinstalling.

Hopefully, this fixes the problem.

Alright I just tried starting the game and I can get it to load, but now it crashes and gives me the memory data error or whatever.

I tried putting the game into a window but I just dont know what to do. Thanks for your help. What should I do now??!!

Did you completely uninstall and reinstall like I suggested?

No I will try that now.

You know the error where it says 'failed to allocate video memory' or somethinglike that and gives me a long line of crap.

This is b.s. ill reinstall now.

Is the error something like: "Failed to allocate video memory. Please try reducing your graphics settings""File:\Source\main\Civlization4\SDKs\Game bryo2-0\CoreLibs\NiDX9 Renderer\NiDX9VB Manager.cpp,Line:1019"?
