hy all.
I've bought the dvd version of Civilization. After installation, when i launch the game, it says "please insert the correct version of dvd-rom"...

I tryed to install it more times, with and without service pack 2 for XP but the problem persists...
What can i do?
In the support site, there isn't solution.

Bye :(

might be that the copy protection is bugging you out because you have some "evil" program installed, like Nero or any other cd/dvd burning software, or emulator like Alcohol 120 or daemon tools.

I had the same problem. I found that if you use the install disc instead of the play disc it may work. if not, try restarting your computer. It worked for me. It shouldn't come down to that but there it is.

Are you teasing him? :p

Some (or several or all) of the discs were mislabeled. Your "play disc" may actually be the install disc. Insert disc 1, whichever that is, and try again. If that doesn't work, please post again.

....

Ok, you don't understand...
I HAVEN'T the cd version, BUT the DVD version of the game; so i haven't install-cd or play-cd.

I'm very boring of this bugs, for every game... I'll return it and will buy Age of empires 3.

FIRAXIS is only a group of idiots.

Bye :(

no, seriously i found a fix for this DVD thing. PM me with your email.

Niophebus: Sorry I misunderstood you.
Dida: You will be getting PMs from alot of people. I suggest posting the fix in the open

I have found a fix for this.

Make a clone of the DVD or CD.

Mount and install from an Alcohol 120% drive.

Get a program called AntiBlaxx, this hides CD/DVD emulation programs from a game's eyes.

After you've set that up, launch game, it should work.

Pretty ridiculous it had to come to this. I was having the same problem with my CD version of the game.

This will work for most people. It didn't work in my case since AntiBlaxx would generate some runtime error.

Looking around, there's a program called "SR7.Stop" which is supposed to do something like AntiBlaxx, but be simpler. There's another called "safedisc 4 hide," but Civ IV uses SecuROM, right? "SR7.Stop" is for SecuROM. I haven't ever used any of those three programs myself, so I don't know if it'd be any help for you.

I will make a prophecy here, soon there will be crack on gamecopyworld for this game. Somebody just submitted the crack to them.
