This seems like a rather painful thing in Civ5, upgrading Xbows to Machine Guns and losing 1 range, but it's still happening in Civ6 when going from Field Cannons to Machine Guns >_<
I wish end game ranged units would stay at 2 range, and if that doesn't make sense for Machine Guns, then replace them with something else that could logically have 2 range, like Bazookas or Mortars. I wouldn't mind if Bazookas in this case required Uranium and came later, in fact maybe Field Cannons should require Niter.
