OK I still, still havn't got this game yet it was just released today. But I have heard many problems with this game operating. (Those who get it to work say it is awsome) But I don't think mine will work. My Computer exceeds all of the required specs except the video card. I have a
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
(Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset)
The other problem I may have is that I have Windows XP I have 512mbRam which it says is sufficient but people say it crashes?

First tell me if my CPU will work this game I believe my GC is a 9xx one which some people say works fine. Can someone tell me if mine will work?

If not I am prepared to buy a new card I have found this card Diamond Stealth Radeon 9250 S85AGP 128MB Video Card it is $79.00 and I can probobly afford it can someone tell me for sure if this card will work? Does it have the TL? if not give me a suggestion of a card that will that is cheap. THanks

Recommended System Requirements

  2. Windows XP either home or pro Service Pack 1 or higher

Now thats the official list. I participated in the beta and ran with a 1.8 GHz 512 RAM with 128 MB GeForce FX 5200. Larger map sizes took a long time to load and I experienced delay frequently joining games. I'm upgrading my system before I install the gold release ;)

I'm sure others will dispute this but this is just my personal recommendation not affliated with Firaxis in anyway ... I'd definitely recommend 1GB of RAM and at least a newer 128 MB Video card or 256 MB card if you can afford it. To play with a lesser pc memory wize requires that you shutdown all background tasks to free memory. It runs "ok" then but not optimally.

I'm not sure precisely about your particular card you have listed ... I believe it was one of those cards that was on the edge support wize... I'd suck it up and pay for a newer Radeon or GeForce 256 MB card if I were you ... you'd be much happier in the long run.

Is it worth it ? The game is awesome once you get over the initial install issues and support problems. This is a major leap forward in CIV. I had many a sleepless night playing it during the beta. And believe it or not it is a lot more stable MP wise then PTW was when it first came out. The issues here will be to step up and realize that 3D gaming requires a gaming system to be able to play it.

The Nvidia FX5500 card can be had online for $55. It has 256MB--is this one a good card? There are other 256MB cards that retail at $499 and more. What's the difference?
