When new people register to this forum, you can usually be certain they won't read their PM's, since it's located lowest. I also sometimes forgot to look because it's so low. Can't it be changed to the other side?

Oh, I meant exactly you're talking about - moving that whole line up will make the top of the forums mainpage look a bit strange.Not the entire PM box!

I've simply got into the habit of when I log on, to scroll all teh way to teh bottom to see if I have any PMs and then start reading teh forums from teh bottom up.
I like the idea of moving the flashing bar up the page.
That's one thing I like about the MacOS style: there is a PM notification at the top left of the forum home page.

@ CT Uh it was enabled a long time ago but it put a load on the server so TF took it off. He put it back a few months ago, but it was all screwy and poped up when you didnt have a message, so he took it back off. What a shame too. 
Yeah, basically it was giving out pop-up messages for all the PMs received betw the time when TF took off the option and then trying to put it back - the space of quite a few months. You can imagine the chaos... esp for those heavy PM hitters.

So that's why the popup doesn't work. I do get the email notification, but I turn it off most of the time 'cause while I'm doing some real work I get nuts of the constant stream of PM notification emails

I think it would also help if the flashing bar was on every page, not just the main forum page. When I get to this site I usually jump straight to the Civ3 forums. So if I don't scroll down all the way to the bottom, the ONE time I'm at the main forums page, I'll never know I had a PM. If the PM thing was on every page, it would be more likely that on at least one of the other pages (civ3 GD, civ3 strategy and tips, civ3 strategy articles, civ3 GOTM, etc.) I'd scroll down far enough to see I have a PM.
I do have e-mail notification (which I highly recommend for people who don't receive PMs several times a day, every day), but that doesn't always seem to work or notify me really quick all the time.

He said he's waiting for ver 3.0, before doing any further changes. Which is supposed to be out around now...
