This is science, not some wacky fundamentalist's idea...

The idea that the Earth will flip has been supported by many respected scientists!

Edit: No, I do not believe what it says on the following site: Nuts ruining good science with silly dooms day prophecies! :(

Anyone have any reputable links?

Source: http://www.crawford2000.co.uk/mag.htm

The first of these is the belief that the Earth will actually tilt on its axis, as stated in the readings of Edgar Cayce and numerous other psychics. Rather like the skin of an orange sliding round the fruit inside, the crust of the Earth is predicted to move accordingly. There is some evidence to support this: For example, the poles, over time, may make the planet "top heavy" with the accumulation of ice and thus, in conjunction with the natural wobble in the rotation of the Earth, combine with this to tip the axis over. Perhaps this would explain the Mammoths found in Siberia with frozen daisies in their mouths, plants that only grow in temperate climates. There are numerous legends from indigenous peoples around the world that tell of a time when either the sun stood still or 3 days of darkness (depending on which part of the planet they were on at the time). A great deal of both channelled information and prophecy agree that this is an essential part of the ongoing Earth Changes that are preparing us for our great adventure.

Although no one is sure when the pole-shift will take place this time (but 2012 seems a bit of a sure bet), one thing is certain, it will happen within this generation.

Edit: There's a lot of sillyness on that site which is easy to laugh at, but maybe you have some info on the real science and predicted effects backed up with scientific explanation? :nuke:

Isn't the second school of thought much more accepted?

Hmm.....some body has been reading a bit to much zetatalk  :p

Stormbind, youre kidding right? That link is insane. Its just as idiotic as that Rapture nonsense:rolleyes: I'll leave it to the science heavyweights to weigh in on the pole shifting (which as far as I know is possible). But whats all the crappola about the human race entering a new dimension? You dont actually believe that do you?

Ok, this is just wacky

I shouldn't have linked to that page without reading it fully ;)

In order to survive a pole-shift, objects must be made purely out of natural materials like the pyramids and the Sphinx—natural materials that are in resonance with the Earth. Even then virtually everything on the planet will be blown away.

As the synthetic objects begin to disappear..

None the less, the pole shift is my emphasis, and that scientific phenomenum appears to be widely accepted. I think even Albert Einstein supported the theory that there will be a pole shift a little way into the 21st Century.

I guess there is a little science and fruitcakes get their hands on it and mix it up with a load of religious prophecies :(

The reason I linke to that site was because it claimed on this page to be only interested in the science. Bah! :(

I thought Edgar Cayce said this was going to happen in 2000 or 2001?

In the 80s many doomsayers also predicted a cataclysmic pole shift by 2000.

I wouldn't worry too much about what these genuine "scienticians" have to say.

If the magnetic field disappears then it's the radiation that's gonna get you anyway.

No!!

See my previous post. Anyone have any reputable links?

I though Albert Einstein suggested 2006 but I have not since found any evidence to back that up :(

Yes, pole shifting is pretty much universally accepted AFAIK. The main evidence for it is periodical switches in the alignment of magnesium on the surface of the ocean floor near volcanoes (or something like that).

ummm....

wait!

wouldnt a pole shift only ocure if [n]one side[/b] of the ice cap wat gainign weight? I mean, other wise wouldnt they both just push down on the earths crust (assuming they weigh enough to do even that)

Until reading this link I've never heard of pole shifting being caused by ice caps gaining weight and making the Earth tip over. Sounds like something a third grader would make up. I'm pretty sure it's mostly believed that pole shifts are caused by fluctuations in the outer core, affecting Earth's magenetic field.

Don't think so because the gravitational forces applied to the earth vary depending on the position of the other planets.

Also, the spin is all wobbly so the poles can be off-centre when those gravitational forces increase.

belive it or not, it was the weight theory that I first heard of conjoined with the pole shift theory (this was on the discovery channel about 4 or 5 years ago mind you, and it was one of thier best programs)

Well, this deals with a rotational pole shift. While there is credible evidence that earth's magnetic pole will shift, there is very little evidence that the physical pole will. First off, eath is not "top heavy" as the article suggests rather it bulges out at the center, the idea of a sliding top heavy planet doesn't make sense. Additionally the moon provides additional rotational stability, because any change in earth's rotation while have a profound change on the moons orbit/rotaton rate. Once again the moon saves us.

One thing is certain, amazing things will happen within this generation. This is to offset boredom.

I think this fellow's confusing a magnetic pole toggle across a stable Earth (accepted) with the magnetic field remaining stationary while the solid medium squirms and somehow inverts under it. Sometimes we find our view really was backwards, in great matters (e.g. sun going round the Earth), but I can't see how the Earth's crust could pull off a flawless inversion, or why it would. Well it doesn't fit my understanding, and it's rudely unprofessional sounding! Bah.

Mammoths found in Siberia with frozen daisies in their mouths

Lovely. I'd wade through pages of nonsense for jewels like this.

There's really nothing to worry about.....

Stormbind, the one true prophet, has arrived to lead us all into the "Dimension of the New Consciousness"

There are still seats available on his spaceship. All he asks is for a small reservation fee.

Storm, can you give these lovely folks the toll free number for their donations?

Don't get left behind!

The article is almost 10% credible until the author loses control of his gushing religionism and begins to get so worked up that he makes numerous typos!

Priceless, but totally worthless!

:)

My friend, stormbind - if you put any value in this stuff, it's time to go out for some fresh air!
