Poll: Never played Civ before?

Played 'em all and loved 'em all, though I have to admit I was more of a hardcore Civ I and II player than I was with Civ III.

That's pretty much like me. Civ I saw me play games lasting days, and then starting a new one as soon as I finished the last. Civ II came to me about the right time, when Civ I found its way to the back of the shelf. Civ III was still fun, but it didn't capture me as a hardcore fan. Lack of time is an issue with me as well, but I also blame the game itself - it was more pretty than Civ II, but otherwise it didn't feel as addictive. I'm hoping that Civ IV will recapture my hardcore playing from the long awaited changes (such as the change in the role of pollution, incredibly flexible moding options, etc).

I have abstained recently from playing Civ III to maximise the anticipation for Civ IV, and fair enough, I'm quite impatient now. I just hope the pre-order edition ships fast overseas. I can't take it if people are bragging how great it is while I still have days to wait.

I started playing Civ with (Civ3), before that I was a hardcore AOE2 fan. I consider myself a Casual Civ3 player atleast compared to most in this forum, but I defiantly played it more then I did AOE2. When Civ4 comes out I believe I will upgrade myself to a hardcore Civ4 player, Civ4 is looking like the best Civ yet! (MULTIPLAYER IS GOING TO ROCK!... )

my sisters husband tries to teach me civ 2, but i was like 10, so i didnt have the attention span to learn it lol. but i am very excited for civ 4. so i guess this will technically be my first civ game.

Better yet, make it a checkbox (non-exclusive) poll instead of a poll with all sorts of exclusive combinations. And then you can add PtW and C3C as well. Plus expansion packs for Civ2 that I forgot about. Me, I played Civ2, Civ3, PtW and C3C.

I'm a hardcore civ player. I played all Civ 3 and will play civ4.

I am a hardcore Civ player I play all of the time, hardly a day goes past without me playing at least a turn in a PBEM game, and normally a fair few turns of a single player game. With Civ 4 I expect i will be dedicating my life to it, especially as the multiplayer seems to be shaping up rather nicely as well so after extended peroids of single player I can take the fight to other humans!

Actually most of the guys in OT section dont even know/care what the civilization game is Or have never played them.

I wouldn't say that was true. If you take a look through the threads your find one by IglooDude where we discuss playing 'OT' multiplayer, and a recent poll showed that many OT'ers will be buying Civ4.
