i know this may sound rather weird but what unit would you remove from the game? not including the extra land, etc
mine would have to be galleon.

what city inprovement?
sdi defense (hee hee)

what wonder?
thats a real tough one, i wouldn't remove any.

Well I would remove the Police station, since I have absolutly no use for it!!!

As which wonder I would remove that would be either The Eiffel Tower of Shakespear's Theatre.

And the one unite I would remove would most certainly be the Fanatic!!!

Coolbook:
Håkan Eriksson, Stormerne, vladmir_illych_lenin, Cunobelin Of Hippo, Bluemonday.

Wonder: I would get rid of the pyramids or at redefine their effect. How can a pile of stones help a tribe store up food. What is a pyramid after all? It's not some giant granary, it's a giant tomb.

Unit: Destroyer, it's too similar to the ironclad.

Improvement: SDI.

I have to agree largely with Shadowdale (for a change

).

Fanatic - never built one. If I've switched to Fundamentalism I'm building Armor or Howitzers! (On the other hand I hardly ever build Explorers either, preferring dips and spies).

Police Station - never built one.

King Richard's Crusade - too many higher priorities beckon at that time.

Now lemme think...
cwm33.gif
... ehm, hmmhh...

Unit: Explorer... Not from a historical persepctive, as they've certainly had their part, but out of a useful perspective. Since I myself never used one, more or less...

City Improvement: Solar Plant. I tend to be so much anti-pollution as it is that I don't need 'em, and production is good enough what with factories, nuclear plants or hydro plants and manufacturing plants...

Wonder: Shakespeare's Theater... First of all I don't find this much of a "wonder" really, and second I never build it. Possibly if I'm ages ahead of the others in tech, and have too much time on my hands...

wonder-eiffel tower...who cares about reputation (IMO, I think KRC and Shakes Theatre are quite useful in a competitive deity level game. Shakes and KRC in a large city is actually a very nice combo.)

unit- I agree with oryx, the destroyer is obsolete too soon after you have the advance to warrant building one.

Improvement- I agree, Police stations are crap. Never built one. At that point in the game your nation should be under enough control so corruption isnt a big problem. (Whoever said SDI has never played against a decent opponent

I agree whole heartedly with getting rid of Pyramids, if they're the way they are currently.

Legions suck.

MAYBE Police Stations.

Fanatics don't suck, btw.

Why get rid of pyramids? I'm totally confused by this.

Are you saying the Great Wall giving every city a wall makes sense? Are you saying that a single cathedral that can make thousands of people on an entire continent happy makes sense? Are you saying that a magical workshop that upgrades units everywhere on the world instantly makes sense? How about a dam that automatically builds a power plant in every city?

Theres no need to redefine the pyramids, unless of course you want to redefine atleast half of the other wonders in the game.

Civ isnt realistic. Lets not try to pretend that it is.

That's being a bit simplistic - after all, the Hoover Dam does provide a lot of electricity so that has some connection to reality. I think the problem with the Pyramids is that you can't really leave them out (they are the only one of the original 7 wonders still around) but it's not clear what they do. The idea of them being granaries comes from back in the days before Egyptology really started, when people thought they had been built for all the grain stored by Joseph in the Biblical story about the 7 fat years and 7 lean years. So it has a sort of link, but not really

As for my choices:

Wonder: Eiffel Tower (never seems to make any difference to me - they still all hate me)
Improvement: Police Station ('cos I always get Women's Suffrage)
Unit: Probably the Galleon or the Frigate as well

Wonder: KingRCrusade - no telling why it gives 2x shields
Unit: Fanatics/Stormtroopers - never used them
CityImp: Courthouse - doesnt really do much for corruption in Republic

"The weak have one weapon: the errors of those who think they are strong."

- Georges Bidault

unit: explorer - never build em

wonder: eiffel - never see the benefit

improvement: granary - I just grow by happy republic/democracy.

Wonder: easy, Manhatt...

Eiffel Tower is useless. If you want to preserve your rep, you can, if you don't, you won't want it anyway.

Unit- Frigate. I usually get Ironclads before they are available. Even the AI hardly ever seems to build them. (although I've never built fanatics either)

Improvement: Police Station. Only time I built one was in my first game when I didn't know what anything did. Just seemed like a city should have a police station in it.

DEATH awaits you all...with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

wonder:Mich's Chapel...this one is just a tad too strong especially at deity.

unit:caravan..the game would much harder without them

improvement..hmmm..that one is not so easy..I would make the courthouse cheaper and require no upkeep..oh i know:SDI.There is no such system and with it you can send as many nuke strikes as you want since there is no deterent of MAD.

I know this is going to be rather controversial, but here goes:

Unit: Nuclear Missile
Wonder: Manhattan Project
City Imp: SDI Defense.

I've never used nukes, but I know it's realistic to have them there. Nukes are (to me) considered cheating, and will not be used by me, even though the AI conquers me by nuking... See why I am the worst Civ player in the world?

forever!!

Very true, Håkon, I built Manhattan/nukes only once just to see what it was like, I prefer to play without them, but the modern world has to deal with them, so I guess we have to in the game as well.

Hmmm...
Wonder: King Richard's Crusade, whenever I build this I tend to be 2 techs away from obsolete. Also the Eiffel Tower can get the AI to actually talk to you instead of them refusing.
Improvement: Police Station I guess though there are other ones I don't build either.
Unit: Explorer, just seems like a waste of resources, knights tend to be much more useful for exploring.

Unit: Fanatic

Wonder: Eiffel Tower, although I agree that the pyramids are way out oh whack...But they're cool to have.

Improvement: Police Station
