Hello all, first post outside of the stickied Newcomers' thread. Great site you have here with a stellar community. Awesome. I'm going with Germany for a couple of reasons; 1, I like Frederick's traits (Creative & Philosophical), 2, The Panzers are a great UU (maybe not necessarily a game breaker, but they get some points for historical accuracy and significance- and they look great!), and finally, 3, Like many Americans, a great percentage of my family tree goes straight back to Germany (not really important, but it adds something).

My second will be the US and after that, who knows. I do really like the idea of staying small, strong, and developed. Get a good base and strong defense going and start working on the techs. Not to get political (please don't, it isn't my intention), but I'm going for the Israel model. Small, but nobody really wants to take them on on the battlefield. I do also really like the idea of staying peaceful and seeing how far the culture/ religion train can take me. Oh the possibilities...

I really haven't read this thread since I voted so this may have been said.

I find it highly interesting that, as of about 6:30PM CST October 18, 2005, Americans are the civ that has the second highest number of votes in this thread, while in this thread http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=131211, they are the second most voted for civ to be removed.

How exactly does that work? "I think the Americans are the civ that least deserves to be in the game but that's who I'm going to play first."

My feelings exactly. I don't mind playing as England with QE1 but Victoria was Queen of Great Britain and Empire. Mind you it would be fun to have some Scots with kilts and showing their private parts to the oncoming enemy!
