Aztecs. When I was having trouble getting started with the higher difficulty levels of Civ1, I got hooked on them cause I could play 4 civs, pick them and have a whole continent for myself...since then, I've pretty much stuck there (though I don't play earth much anymore). I guess I kinda got used to looking for yellow units. I never got in to Civ3 cause I didn't like a lot of the gameplay changes so I don't know much about the UUs. (Did they have UUs in Civ3?)

Maybe England or the Canadians next if that mod turns up. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=129283)

I think I'm going to go with Rome myself. The Legion is my favorite unit. Plus I've been watching that new Rome series on HBO and it's got me on a Roman kick.

I really wish they would have included the Iroquois though. I liked their Mounted Archer unit.
The Legionaire doesn't exist any more in Civ4 :p . It is replaced by Praetorian Guard:p

Aztecs of course, trade some techs with the Americans then march south east & conquer the Incas, before long I'll have my south american empire!

Ive always been fond of Germany and Greece

I took that "what civ are you test" somebody linked to and came out
Germany and Greece
:)

But now that every things changed around from what I know (civIII- I’m new here ;) )
I’ll have to double check

I'd play as Scandinavia, but I don't see it in the list. :( I like to develop my own island and then sail out to conquer the world, so I'll probably play as England. If the English unique unit is as weak as in Civ3, though, maybe I'll play as Germany instead: I like the science bonus, and the German unique unit.

For my very first test game I'll probably just go random - that'll be just to familiarize myself with the controls and game mechanics.

I can't decide which Civ to play for my first 'serious' game until I know more about the strengths of the individual civilization traits so I can decide which Civ now best suits my playstyle.
And, of course, I'll be wanting to play ALL the Civs sooner or later... I can't understand those who always play the same one or two civs - half the fun is meeting the challenge of different strengths and weaknesses of the civs!

Scandinavia isn't in the core version of civIV.
England has two leaders, Victoria (expansive and financial - bonus to expansion and finances) and Elizabeth (philosophical and financial - bonus to Great Leaders and finances), both have the recoat as uu, it replaces probably the riflemen.
Germany has also two leaders, Frederick (II. of Prussia probably ; creative and philosphical - bonus to culture and Great Leaders) and Otto von Bismarck (expansive and industrious - bonus to expansion and industry). The German uu is still the panzer.

So, Germany has no science bonus anymore, but the English got a good land unique unit probably... All that can be found better under here.

I actually voted for the Germans since they've been my starting civ ever since civ1, but after reading the thread I must say I'm a little tempted to play France as Napoleon :salute:
