I understand that you need ads to fund the site, and I can stand that they are popups (just barely)..

But popups that automaticly starts downloading windows-components, now thats to much for me!

I'm talking about the "download windows movie maker 2 now"-popup. If you dont close it at once it will after a few minutes ask you if you want to trust content from Microsoft. If you previously pressed "always trust content from Microsoft", it will even start the dowload automaticly..

I guess you wont see this if you have the newest windows media player though .

as the new media player gives troubles with some older codecs on ym laptop (the movies do no run smoothly if the laptop had been in 'sleep' mode)and many people (me, e.g.) would like to stick with the old one, getting rid of that ad (or at least having it changed) would be a good idea methinks

Haven't seen it for myself, but you shldn't be getting pop-ups in the forums. Unless you're referring to the one when you access the mainpage...

Alternatively, you can try using a pop-up stopper. Some ppl have raised this issue in the past, and there're good suggestions there too... ;)

In IE go to your: Tools: Internet options: security tab: custom level: and change the first entry "Download signed activeX controls" from 'enable' to 'prompt' this should make put most of thoses advertising downloads (and they can just as easily come form banners and web site your surf to as well as popups) on a dialouge box 'Do you want to dowload...." unless you have initiated the download the answer is always no.

hmm.... on my comp it only downloads a little movie, not a windows component.

But I have forwarded your complaint to Telefragged anyway... :)

That must be because you allready have all components installed :)
As someone mentioned earlier, lots of ppl dont want to download the newest media-player as it really do suck bigtime compared to the 6.x-version. Lags down the computer and takes ages to start.

Thanks for your attention :)

Yes, that may solve the problem with automated download, but it still asks if you want to download..
It takes some time for the download to start, and if you're currently typing when the dialog-box appears, you may accidently press yes.. Anyways, the point was that there shouldnt be a popup asking you to download anything at all.
This is allmost like those sites tricking you into downloading porn-dialers.. and this site is to good for that :)

I got a pop up about cheques in the forum just this morning. I dont know how to copy source code or Id pm you it TF

No, the main page has popups, just not the forum. :)

To copy the source code of forum popups, first maximize the popup window then right click and select 'View Source".
