You can choose more then one Item to vote on!

There seems to be a lot of negative things said on almost all threads on this forum about Civ.4. I’m by nature a positive person so all this negative talk is bringing me down. So I thought we could take a poll to see what people like about Civ.4, instead of dislike! And then post the things that you are excited about, without the negative comments. Even the most negative people usually have some positives things to say about the game so please post them! And Please no Negative comments Thank You!!!

This is my positve post, I've posted this before in a couple of other threads so if you have read it before im sorry!

There is a revolution coming to the Civ. world its called Civ.4!! It will be the best selling Civ. made to date!! The decision to go 3d wasn’t just to improve the look of the game but also to improve the interface!! Now you can just roll your mouse around the world without have to right click to see terrain info. You won’t have to go to city view to see how things are doing, simply put your cursor over top of the city. You will be able to see what worker are doing (going in and out of mines) and you can zoom right down to see the battles as they unfold, the world will really come to life! It’s not all about 3d either they have added some great features, Civic options, Religion improved combat and so on. Its claims to be the most mod friendly strategy ever released, don’t like something just change it yourself! For the first time they focused on multiplayer opening up a whole world for a lot a Civ. fans. All these features are going to bring in a lot of new people into this game, people with fresh idea’s and partnered with a very mod friendly game only great things can happen. Civ.4 will be Turn-Based Strategy Game of the Year, Age 3 will be overall Strategy game of the year, but Civ.4 will be up near the top! There is a revolution coming my friend, you can bank on it, Firaxis’s is!! I say its money in the bank!

I think, we can close this thread. :p

I like the idea of pretty much every item listed. Some of them might have new problems, though, so I would need to see how they're implemented before I could judge them properly.

My views :

3D Engine : Definately better, certainly if you can set fixed views of Civ III back on for those who don't like to rotate and zoom around.
Improved Artificial Intelligence : If it's improved, it's better, d'uh
Religion : Great addition, too bad they're vanilla though, I'm gonna mod that ;)
Addition of more Great People : Don't like this one, reminds me too much of the movie voice over guy saying "In a world, there was ONE man, ONE man who could change it ALL" ... doesn't seem fitting in a Civ game.
Improved Multiplayer : Central server with save ability is centrally an improvement I will use a LOT
Closed Border’s : I guess we all say "finally" now.
No more Resource Migration : Don't know about this one.
New Combat System : Sure, why not
Unit Promotions : Good idea, let's specialize our forces to create more variety.
Civic Options : Improbes realism a lot :)
Customization Flexibility (modding) : Jeeeej
Leader Traits : Doesn't make that much of a difference
New Tech-Tree Flexibility : Would should diffentiate tactics :)
New Game Speeds : Won't use it, only like epic.
Other : I like the other !

I'm looking foward to most of the features- But I wish they'd split culture and borders. It makes sense in the early ages, but in modern day you can't alter who owns land by building a temple- it's horribly unrealistic. Possibly something to mod, also.

With modding, and the new features, this'll easily be the best Civ.

Well, I didn't vote for improved AI because, until I see it, claims of improvements are just words-I want confirmation. However, the fact that civ leaders will have traits, characteristics and agendas will probably lead to significant AI improvements-irrespective of other changes.
Civics would have to be the single-most best change between Civ3 and Civ4 that I have heard of yet far-with the level of customization available being the next best.
Definitely I love the changes to the combat system-particularly promotions-as well as the power to close your borders to all comers.
Another thing which I really, REALLY love-but which wasn't offered as a choice here-is the fact that small nations will now be competitive, rather than getting snowballed by larger nations!

I forgot to add that one, I think that the ability to have small nations that are still competitive is going to be great, and should make for interesting game play!

3D graphical effects are certainly the most revolutionary features, which has never been done in previous civ games.

I like everything that's on the list there, aside from the uber mod-ability. (But that's just because I won't be using it)

I all sounds good in theory, but I can't be sure until I see it all in action.

Since we haven't really even seen the game yet, I don't think there's much we can say about it, positive or negative.

There are several things on that list that I'm feeling very optimistic about, but that's all.

Not sure for the moment that 3D engine is a good thing :

- what about graphics creation ?
- what about the power of my PC ?

religion is a very good thing ..like improved customization....

I have the same concerns that my computer wont run Civ.4 either, but I can't image that it will be harder to run then lets say UT2004, which runs fine on my machine with only a 866mzh, geforce 5700, 512ram Believe or not. AOE3 on the other hand might have to wait till I get a better computer!

new combat is cool :ar15:

3d engien is sweet

improved AI will be great :scan:

unit promotions will be fun :salute: :salute: :salute:

I CANT WAIT

I really like the idea of civics. That sounds like a great feature.

Also, Closed Borders. No more AI randomly wandering around the map :D

I selected everything. Everything new that has been added in/taken out sounds alright to me. And for other: it's Civ! Every release brings something new, and that something new is always exciting. No matter how much we think we know, there will always be something that surprises us. I like surprises :D .

Other.

The reputed ability of smaller civs to keep up with and/or surpass larger civs (especially in tech and culture). :)
