Throwing my hat into the ring with new civ designs. Note these wont be made by me, they could perhaps someday peak the interest of one such inclined. Critique and corrections welcomed and encouraged.

Emirate of Ifriqiya under the Aghlabids
Leader: Ibrahim II
UA: Jewel of the Maghreb - Naval trade routes have extended range and +?%:c5production: of naval units per some amount of :c5gold: per turn.
UU: Sudanese Guard - Swordsmen replacement. Stronger at home and at sea.
UI: Ribat - Replaces the fort, buildable on coastal tiles. Provides +1:c5faith: and +1:c5gold:. A Ribat with a garrisoned missionary may spawn infantry from the current era.

Kingdom of Hungary
Leader: Matthias Corvinus
UA: Defenders of Christendom - Units have more defense against civilizations following a different religion. Conquered cities following your religion have shorter resistance.
UU: Black Army Hussars - Lancer replacement, stronger but more expensive
UU: Black Army Infantry - Melee Crossbowmen replacement, stronger defense but more expensive. Performs a ranged attack before combat.

Ghaznavid Sultanate
Leader: Mahmud of Ghazni
UA: Poet Warriors - Receive twice as much :c5gold: from pillaging and conquering cities. Annexed and puppeted cities provide Great Writer :c5greatperson: points in the capital and may spawn Armored Elephants after Chivalry with local access to Ivory.
UU: Ghulam - Knight replacement with a ranged attack and faster movement.
UU: Armored Elephant - Replaces the chariot archer, available at chivalry. Can only be purchased or gained through UA, though stronger than contemporary units.

Ooooh, interesting! I've considered cooking up an Aghlabid Civ myself, but your design is much better. Hmmm. Guess I'll have to bash out a Cathar Civ. =]

They are pretty interesting, being the only muslims to have successfully sacked Rome for one. Also ruling Tunisia during its last golden age before the Arabs wiped out its agriculture during Zirid times. A Cathar civ would be very interesting to see. I have a soft spot for the Occitans.
Edit: Rethinking the UA perhaps switching the naval production bonus to golden ages instead of gold makes more sense.

Watching this thread, for obvious reasons!

I found its UA name ironic...

Lol, FYI: the chariot archer upgrades to the knight. So its actually penalizing.
(Let alone multiplayer)

It could be made its own unit class then. Just going with the replacement theme most civs use. Besides I almost never use chariot archers myself and rarely see the AI use them.

I've started working on one that I have wanted to see in civ for awhile now. It's not complete but I would love some help with it and hopefully someone picks it up.
Kingdom of Britain
Vortigern
UA: King of the Britons -
UU: Marchomawr - Knight Replacement
UI: Foederati Camp - +1 production and gold. Lowers cost of purchasing units when worked and may convert Barbarians ending their turn next to it. Units converted this way may turn back into barbarians.
