What do you think?

I know T/F has already decided it's gonna be a premade map.

1)What size do you think it should be?
2)What level of difficulty?
3)Raging hordes?

I think it should be a large map.
I'd like deity mode but maybe that wouldn't be fair.
Raging hordes OF COURSE

>>>Even though T/F said that HE will take the final decision on which map to choose I'd like it to be the Pacific.

my preference:
Diety
Raging hordes
7 civs DEFINITE
large map
earth map possibly?

I'd rather not play on Earth personally, but at least if it's going to be a pre-made map, don't tell us right away which one it is. That way I'll still have a few beginning turns of happy exploration...

Yes a pacific premade map would be great!
What civs would there be? I'd like to play a GOTM on a real world map wether it be the whole world or just europe or the pacific but with actually civs that are in that area and real starting points for the civ.
A Pacific with East Asia and Indonesia with North and South america. The civs would be China, India, Aztecs, America and Japan(maybe the human would be Japan to add to the difficulty)

I'd say large map, 7-player, king level (or maybe emperor), raging hordes. A europe map would be nice, europe's a great place. Real-world starting points would be great.

Well all that I can say is I don't really care what settings are going to be used on the next GotM Kundor - as long as it's not a large map!!

We all more or less agreed that large maps are out of the question because they simply take way to long to play and we want this to be a friendly competition with as many participants as possible.

I'm nearly finished with my USA v World game Large map 7 players and it's only taken me 3 days to play...

I'd like it to be a world map if it's going to be premade. I really love the giga world map but I know that would take too long to finish. So whatever size fits withing the parameters of time frame. I like Emporer or King level. Restless tribes for barbs. I wonder if this map is going to have preset starting positions? That could be a little more predetermination than I really want, but I would live with it.

Japan.....mmm.....
Good Idea.

I think Australia would be nice also.
We could name the human civ "Australians" and give them the orrange colour.

The other civs should be scatered all over the map

Russians
Chinese
Indians
Aztecs
Sioux
And the sixth could start in Australia too......

This game should be King level.

I don't see why anyone would want to play with other than raging hordes. More points, more challenge. 7 civs also.
I like a random map because of the exploration factor.
In deciding the level & map size: do we want a game where everyone is expected to win? If so, choose Emporer or less, or Deity on a map 65 x 100 or less. There are a few strategies which almost guarantee a win for these maps.
I've found it difficult to win ie. conquest or spaceship on a Deity map 80 x 125 (max size). I sometimes can, but it depends heavily on the initial terrain. Any strategy suggestions? Nuclear war often works, however you should see the world after 5 or 6 icecap melts.
What about a premade map like a desert world?

I would like King level,7 civs, raging hords.

Raging hordes is a strong advantage for the human player... most know of the 150 gold bonus that is soooo wonderful. However, raging hordes is a real impediment for the AI, esp. at lower difficulty levels (I won't digress with the math).

Personally, I hope to see large/deity/raging/7 variations. But in the interests of the wide range of civ players in the GOTM, King and maybe Emperor seems appropriate. Smaller maps also play faster. I've spent twice the time in the GOTM 4 that I'm playing now (for reference), versus GOTM 5 I finished in about 3 days (most of which were post-1500AD).

So whatever is used for GOTM 6, that'll be great to me... as long as we all have the same starting game, anything is fun!

Maybe someday, after there is an established and reliable record of GOTMs, a special game can be used that is identical, except in the difficulty level of the start. Depending on one's prior GOTM results, you'd start out on a commensurately difficult map. For instance, Shadowdale, myself, etc. must use the Deity variety of the game. Others, who score at the bottom end, could play as Prince. I'm not 100% sure that would balance the end results for that month, but it would nevertheless be interesting to see, given a large sample size (e.g., lots of participants).

Hey, I'm up for anything.

As far as maps are concerned, I've never played on the maps that people are talking about. Will it offer an advantage to those who have? I don't know how it would work. Do the resources always show up in the same place so those who know the maps will know better city sites?

This will be my first GOTM, so use whatever you like. I am use to Diety, 7 civs, Largest map, raging hordes, so bring it on.

Hopefully I hold my own against all you players out there....
