This plan is base on dutchfires plan in the stragety junction thread. It is meant as a plan for when France declares war rather than this being a plan to attack them.

Basic summary here

Turn 1, Move Army Group (AG) 1 to and capture Rhiems and AG 2 to Lyon. Position AG 3 into the position shown (forest to south and west and hill with mine to north)

Turn 2, Capture Lyons, This is where the plan has to be flexible to allow for injured units to heal but providing that they are all ok move AG 2 down the road and have AG 3 join it and then go down to orleans

Turn 3, Move AG 1 to Orleans ( again this could change, they might not be needed if AG 2,3 are ok)

Turn 5 (or three turns after moving from rheims) Capture Orleans

AG 1 Units, 2-3 cats 3 other units (swordmens and Keshiks)
AG 2 Units 2-3 cats 3 other units (swordmen and axemen due to spearman in Rhiems)
AG3 Units 3-4 cats 3-5 other units (Mixture of units)

this is base on the assuption that france keeps it's miltary the same in the area and that any invasion force coming from France is dealt with first, that Orleans has approx 5 units and 40% cultural defence
That some units in AG2 and AG1 will be healthy enough after the first attack
Also that France don't send further units to the war zone ie takes longer to reach orleans
Also that defenders will need to be consider, (two per city, three for orleans)

Please comment on the good and the bad :)

If I rightly understood you, these 18/19 units are for defense and counterattack

if France declares war. But, just thinking about defence, how many units shall

we need to have standing for protection?

Best regards,

Looking at the save one of the best moves we can make in my opinion is to station one or two archers with guerrilla promotions on the hill SW of Lyons, this will prevent the French from easily moving towards our capital if they start a war. Other than that there is too much open land to make a good static defense against the French, our priority will have to be the production of units that can fight off their assault force, which means probably a mix of axemen and Keshiks, a problem we might face is the large number of hills and forests around Riversight and Coppertown will provide easy defensive terrain for the French attackers.

That said I agree with the general counterattack plan, as submitted by Joe.

This is more a plan for the counter strike than the actually defence as I said in the plan, because I don't know where the attack will be centered (my suspision is that they will go for Riversight)

I'd assume they'd take Coppertown first, as it's a bit more isolated, but you're right if our defenses are too weak in Riversight or even NoneOfTheAbove they might attack either of those cities.

We should head up to catapults -- good for taking cities. (Especially 4 or 5 at a time, per city).

With 4 accuracy catapults, you can reduce all city defense to nil in 1 turn.

I think this plan may not be needed!

I was referring to cities with defense (e.g 40% cultural defense in capital and/or 50% defense due to walls). Plus, catapults can also be used for collateral damage. They're good.

I meant my plan in general may not useful any more! :)
