Possible special session

In the event that the forums are out on Sunday, forcing the turnchat to be cancelled, I propose that we hold a special session to accomplish the twin goals of advancing to the Industrial age and defeating Russia. Both are only one turn from occurring, and it may be important to plans for the subsequent turnchat that they be done. The preturn will be played as normal, and the turnchat will only last until turn 1, when we destroy Russia (which will be the only action taken in turn 1 of the special session). If approved, this special session will be held at 15:15 EST (20:15 GMT) on Monday.

So, if the Sunday turnchat can't be held, should we hold a Monday special session?

I think so. I'll ask Thunderfall when he intends to do the upgrade. (from when to when).

In the event he does do it this week, however, I think this would be a good idea, so that we can defeat Russia and advance to the Industrial era even if we can't play the regular turnchat.

There is no need to cancel game play just becuase the forums are out. Leaders should be able to post instructions in time and the game can continue. There is nothing wrong with an offline game play session.

We had something to deal with things like this in DG1 and 2...

This is easy to deal with, just set the deadline for posting instructions early, and have several people (anyone interested even) print them out or save them locally. No reason a chat can't go on without the forum present. The only drawback is not being able to see the save from mid-chat updates, but with no binding spot votes anyway we don't really need to see it.

There's still alternate servers. i.e., I could put the save up on my comcast account for a few days.

I beleve Boots is saying that he wants to play the full 10 turns on that special session.

IMHO we don't need a 1 turn tour of duty. It is clear that we finish Russia. It is clear that we research steam. It is cleat that we have to do the luxury deals. etc.
