Hi guys, was hoping you could help me with a little problem. University has seen fit to give us all copies of Windows 7 to install via .iso file. Problem is, I don't have any blank DVD's to burn it onto and am too cheap to buy a pack of them only to use a single one.

A friend of mine explained that I could mount the .iso file and then copy the contents into a USB key and boot from there. So to run the experiment I formatted the USB, mounted the .iso file and simply "copied all" and pasted onto the USB. I changed the boot order so that it hits USB first, but when the computer starts up I get an error message saying: "invalid or damaged bootable partition".

Am I doing something incorrect or is this just not a possible way of installing Windows? Thanks very much for your help, any advice is appreciated.
