I think one of the best ways to learn is by showing people what you're doing. I've read a lot of great info here on the site, but some of it isn't sinking in. So I got to thinking "gee, it would be great if I could actually see a game with someone doing x strategy." So, I made this thread.

Post a saved game and briefly describe what you are doing. For example, if you're doing a specialist economy, it would be great to actually see the inner workings of your civ! Simply post a save, or a progression of saves, highlighting what it is you're doing. Please specify what version of the game you're playing. (I'm hoping for some vanilla saves) :)

There are a huge amount of such games posted already...Very few of them are vanilla though...

Can I post a saved game here to be looked over by a pro? If so, how? If not, where?

I'm not sure if this is what Lazonby envisaged for this thread, which I instead interpreted to be more of a strategy demonstration, and if so, oyzar's point is valid - the ALC games is just one series that does a good job of this. Nonetheless, it's always good to see new games with varied strategies played out.

Oksbad,

Welcome to CivFanatics! :)

You can upload games by using the 'upload' option on the toolbar above, or alternately using the 'go advanced' > 'manage attachments' option in the post reply area.

I'd not discourage you from posting your game if you're stuck, but I would urge you to read widely, including checking out The War Academy items before rushing to a "Help me - Please assess my game" style of thread.

ooops my bad

no wonder im strugling with the game, i cant even understand lazonbys post

Cam_H is correct in what I was thinking. :) I knew there had to be some good saved games 'round here, but I couldn't find them. That list is great, but I hope there's some vanilla saves out there. Of course, I could stop being cheap and actually buy BtS (so many other games I want!).

mattux, I did look over your game. The main thing I saw was that you're not working your tiles effectively. You want to place the circles (circles indicate a tile is being worked) over the tiles that will generate the most food/hammers/commerce in the least amount of turns. Don't ever let them be on auto. Try that to max your food to speed growth, max your hammers to speed city production, and various combinations. If you have any other questions or want me to show you, PM me.

The earliest ALC's are in vanilla. For the guy who posted a game learning city placement and such would be an advantage.. Also growing your cities is good most of the time...
