PotatoMcWhiskey, perhaps the most followed Civ 7 YouTuber, has posted dueling reviews. One positive and one negative.
To be fair, he sprinkles a lot of criticism throughout his 10/10 video (or more than you would expect).Of course I got the negative review recommended on youtube first. Didnt expect as many f-bombs, but I understand.
Going from the length of videos 33 minutes vs. 15 minutes, it is a 7/10. I can safely argue why I am not buying Civ7 ... yet.
He actually likes it in general but is super pissed about the UI.Anyone got a good summary of these vids? like his overall thoughts and conclusions? at work rn so cannot watch.
But he also recommends buying it, explaining that being a part of the journey of Civ 7 and contributing to the overall success of the game buy communicating with devs about bugs and changes they should make is also very exciting. He also says he can’t really recommend that you buy the game as he said that it doesn’t feel ready for launch.
He invites you to buy it if you would like to join the adventure of watching a game grow and get better. It’s not a recommendation. He’s published two reviews and is deliberately not coming to a conclusion about the game. But he also recommends buying it, explaining that being a part of the journey of Civ 7 and contributing to the overall success of the game buy communicating with devs about bugs and changes they should make is also very exciting.
He doesn't really seem to be a fan of the civ-switching mechanic
I watched both videos and this wasn’t the impression I had. He says repeatedly that he wishes we were receiving a more traditional version of Civ for 7.He explicitly states, in the positive review video, that he came around on this and likes it now. And he says that while the legacy paths aren't great, he still thinks it's an improvement over older versions of the game.
This is the bit that resonated with me, it sucks given the price but I'm going into with the attitude that I'm an Alpha tester with a chance to shape things towards a good conclusion. I have some real concerns but am also excited to see if they really have fixed the pain points they have correctly identified.being a part of the journey of Civ 7 and contributing to the overall success of the game by communicating with devs about bugs and changes they should make is also very exciting.
Surprised that the community lets the general disrespectful tone of the negative review slide.
None of that requires f-word cursing and disrespect or ranting on same subject several minutes without saying anything new.Oh no, can't have a content creator actually be honest about the game he got early access to!
People might actually start trusting him to not just be kissing the behind of the developers in the hopes of getting early access in the future too!
