Power of the Great Library

When I play Persia and build the GL, it always immediately triggers the Golden Age. If I don't build it, when will I get the Golden Age? When a AI civ builds it?

No- you will get it either when you build some other Wonder (or combination of Wonders) that fulfill your Traits (Scientific and Industrial, right?) or when you first attack someone with your Immortal units.

Hey, I did it! I finally managed to build the GL on deity! And f@!k me! I must have got 10 techs instantly! I had no idea how useful it could be on the higher difficulty levels!

. . . and your Immortals WIN :)

Great Library

Cheiftan to Regent - All but worthless

Monarchy and up - Very Nice!!!! but hard to get without a carefully planned prebuild.

i agree with Ricett.in higher difficulties u really have to plan a prebuild really carefully.research the path tats going to provide the GL or trade techs with the AI.
wat i normally do is to start a prebuild with a palace and get the techs from AI cos u cant research any techs FAST in the ancient age.and when i do finally get a particular wonder from a tech i switch immediately from the prebuild palace to the wonder.(normally its ToE and Hoover)

i always try to get teh great library. it is one of the most powerful wonders in the game. next comes TOE, and then Hover Dam, and finally Sun Tzu's. since i don't have Conquests, i cant say much about the other new wonders.

in case if anyone didn't notice, when you build Hover dam, you are allowed to get other power plants, like both Nuclear and Hydro

On Pangea maps I like the "every city on a continent" wonders more than the GL: Pyramids, Sun-Tzu's Art of War, the Internet (from Conquests, for the Research Labs) and Hoover Dam.

I've noticed that different types of power plant do seem to "stack," to use a DnD3e term, their increases in production. The FAQ addresses this topic, but it is unclear to me. A link to a good explanation would be appreciated
