Presidential Discussion: Where to build the ToE?

It wasn't meant to be. How does all this wonder building talk fit in with the silly idea we have of building 30 cavalry to invade Egypt?

I don't think having Gorina focus on wonders will impact the military plans too much.

It will slow things down slightly as it is one of best building cities we have. If we currently have a target of 30 cav units, plus defensive troops, we have a fair amount of building ahead of us and we'll need every high-shield city building those troops.

Most of these units can come from over-achieving cities in Aventine province, which are building far more improvements than necessary right now.

Back to the Wonders, I would have Gorina working on Wall Street until we discover Scientific Method. Then we should make the switch to ToE. What would be best alternate site outside of Aventine that could build Wall Street?

Tactically the thing to do is to switch Gorina to a Palace prebuild, and put Noshuret on Wall Street immediately. To do otherwise will delay getting the Street, and the corresponding 50gpt.

Edit: spoke too soon, looks like we're one bank short, so can't start Wall Street yet. In any case, if we want to build it, don't try to use it as a prebuild. Just build it where we want it.

donsig is right. However, Wall Street cannot be added to Noshuret's queue until it is removed from Gorina's.

I wholeheartedly approve of our two most historic cities working side by side on these Wonders while the rest of the nation prepares for war.

Unless you can swap the Palace to Gorina's Queue and Wall Street to Noshurtet's Queue. That would be an easy way to do that :).

Where should we build Hoover Dam? It takes 800 shields. We can't pre-build until we get scientific method and switch Gorina over to ToE. I think Hoover must be built in a city on a river. Can it be built in a city on a lake?

If we can build Hoover in Gorina (after ToE of course) it would take 22 turns. Since we are 13 turns away from ToE we'd have Hoover in Gorina 35 turns from now. (These figures assume the hills of Gorina get railroaded before we start on Hoover.)

Aureus is not on a river or lake so we can't build it there. Noshuret can't pre-build Hoover there. Railroading Noshuret would bring production up to 26 shields per turn but Hoover would still take 31 turns or 44 turns from now.

Tyvek could be gotten up to about 28 shields per turn with proper mining and railroading. It can also pre-build. I calculate 32 turns from now is the fastest we could build Hoover in Tyvek. That's a few turns better than Gorina.

Memphis is another possibility but I don't think it could beat Gorina or Tyvek.

I'd say either Gorina or Tyvek, but they should be optomized for sheilds ASAP.

Any thought to taking two turns to do an EXPENSIVE rush of a Factory? I realize this will cost +1200g so it's unlikely we'll do it, but I'm throwing the idea out there.

IIRC we have enough gold to stay over 1000g with such a rush, but we'd be close to our 1000g floor.

Hoover does need a river, lakes don't cut it. Obviously, the faster we can build it the better. So Gorina and Tyvek seem to be the contenders. Gorina could use a break from wonders to build a Marketplace and Bank. That would help utilize the 83 commerce per turn Gorina outputs. Tyvek already has a Marketplace and only outputs 49 cpt. So, I would say build Hoover in Tyvek.
