There was a story going around, about 20 years ago, about a woman who saw "Press any key to continue" and decided to press the Shift Key. This was back in the Apple ][ days. When it didn't work, she remembered that Return must be used when entering data so the computer knows you're done. So from that day forward, she always hit Shift/Enter when "Press any key to continue" was on screen. An UL, I'm sure, but still funny.

For me, it's usually space. Sometimes something else, if I'm in the mood for it.

I hit a SHIFT key when it's to clear a screen saver - so as to not activate a hotkey by mistake. When prompted, I hit anything.

But seriously, I don't know. It changes, I think. But probably it's "enter" or "space".
