-Prethread- NCNESIOT: Blackened Skies

I think we should not argue about Russia's and America's ability to churn out military equipment until Crezth provides revised stats. Obsolete, non-revised system is pretty clearly crooked, with labor protection laws being a one-sided impairment for economy (because it raises Base Cost), while de-facto slave labor is a way to outproduce anyone. As far as I understood Crezth, it was his intention to rework the game's economy to make players' choices matter.

Well Russia can't produce carriers anyhow so it's a bit of a moot point either way

Base cost seems to be a measure of efficiency. My costs are low because of how my industry is organised, more so than wages. I have a lot of big modern industrial plant which is vertically integrated with a lot of cheap inputs, across iron ore and (relatively speaking) wages. Rsther than wages that are lower than Russia's.

EDIT: my issue is less with base cost, and more with the ratio of pop to industry.

Also, a carrier isn't a carrier isn't a carrier.

Hi all,

This economic readjustment is taking a bit longer than we thought it would be. I feel that the economics of the system can be rolled out next turn, potentially with this turn's stats. To ensure that we can continue timely updates, please have your orders in by May 29th.

The rule changes will not affect anything too drastically, so please carry on as normal. If you have issues in the stats, in your orders please note what you think the stats SHOULD say, and we can take it from there.

Please feel free to PM me with questions or concerns

Yes. :)

Just waiting for some of that yummy NPC diplo to get orders in.

That's cool. I guess it brings us back to the conversation about Prussian economy we were having before the promised change. More in the PM I sent you, guys. I'd really appreciate an answer by Friday. :)

Let me clarify that I am not changing anything in the rules or player interface just yet. All changes are below-board for now. I have already removed Stability in the stats, so you should consider the stats completely functional for this update. Please continue about your business as usual.

Attention: Please note: Base Costs have been reduced across the board. While most of who used to be the Base Cost wizards will now have 1-2 Base Cost, a greater portion of countries who are supposed to be industrialized and productive now also have 2-3 Base Cost.

Rationale: Base Costs were too high and were throttling some countries that really should have been able to match the demand from their governments. Now it is easier to compare Base Costs, and the difference between Base Costs, while still important, will be less drastic.

This will also decrease overhead/espionage cost as appropriate.

There is no evil laugh clip that can compare to the point I am trying to convey right now.
Next turn, you can build 436 Rifle Division. Or 267 Gunboats. Or a tunnel from Canton to London.

P.S. Before others get scared of the Great Zhao, please remember that a nation can't spend more EP on their units than they have IC or manpower reserve (whichever is lower). So, even tiny Prussia can outproduce he Zhao in aircraft and ships (which don't require reserve division spending), although it'd require for me to go into debt.

I'm out, since that's completely ruined balance.

No I'm not. I've just had my relative power to most of the European states halved, at best. I've gone from being one of two powers total, able to support a large fleet to now one of five or so. I've also being punished in game now for having the same or similar base cost as everyone else. Mid-sized countries that could last turn produce say 5 divisions, total can now produce say 25 divisions (which is about half what the OTL US mobilised in a single year in 1942).

1. You have Global Naval projection, and other countries (besides the UK) do not. We can produce some ships, true, but we won't be effectively able to venture outside the Baltic, Northern, Mediterranean seas. Same applies to the aircraft. Projection matters.
2. You can still build divisions twice or trice cheaper than well-industrialized European countries. The difference is not as insane as it used to be, but it's still HUGE.

honestly you just need to make your TxP stop sucking and you'll probably be fine

Also I have no naval ambitions beyond "buy enough ships so it'd be extremely inconvenient to invade me".

No, it doesn't. You can break my blockade now. So can France. The whole point of it, and the only reason it's was a viable tool, is because neither of you could replace losses. You can now, so blockades in the future are a dead letter. The problem is about 100x worse for the UK.

No, it's not. I could do that at the start and never bothered with it. I've had zero cost rifles for umpteen turns. And I've built like 10 total. Why? For the same reason that the OTL US never bothered to fully mobilise to the 300 divisions it planned for in World War 2. It's overkill and should be impossible. Now it's just that little bit more absurd.

Nah, I don't think a txp tweak can fix this now.

Up to you, but our ability to replace losses does not counter your ability to outproduce us. How can we break a blockade if your fleet is growing faster than ours? Besides, playing against players that have no chance against you is not much fun, don't you think? :)
